the "Finish Avatar" project week Fifteen, Free/style day. Leave me a suggestion for a picture
BTW, she's biting her lip in concentration... hope that's what came across in the picture
...
I thought I'd keep faith on my promise to to do a "finished" Korra picture (yes, I remembered! I don't know where or when exactly I made that promise... but I remember that I did
).I still find it hard to draw her with only one real reference to look at... but a few really good avatar artists (who are better at doing this stuff with less reference) have done some pictures recently, so I've used those almost like "canon" reference.
Ever since the show and it's premise was announced, I've had this vision of drawing her learning airbending. I wanted to add Tenzin scolding, and coaching her in the bg, but... alas, we still don't know what he looks like (we only know what he sounds like
).Tell me what you think of my "representation" of her.

Yeah, that and Aang's scooter were my references for this. Since we've never seen airbending training... I borrowed a lot from Naruto's wind nature training

That's what I thought when I was making it, I even used the Rasengan as color reference
I don't know how else am I supposed to show her learning airbending... We never see training in the show

Aang and Naruto sounds like a great crossover! Zuko and Gaara might also work.
The slant? I'm not sure what you mean...
The Hyuuga's gentle fist jutsu is very similar to Ty Lee's method of jabbing the chakra canals to stop the flow.

'Slant' is a term I picked up from my High School newspaper. It's a term that means how you express the idea of an article. Usually, it's very harmless... like using powerful words to make a story sound more meaningful. But, a journalist's slant can also take a rather mundane story and turn it into controversy, or make the most simple acts of kindness seem like heroism; all in how they present the facts. It's related to the idea of "bending the details" to make something more newsworthy. The art of journalism is understanding the difference between slanting something to emphasize details; and slander, which is biased misrepresentation of facts. (protip... journalism can be a very dirty business... that's why I didn't pursue it further. High School Newspaper is fine though, I was Editor-In-Chief my senior year 
What I mean by that in art... is how can I take those characters and have them mesh in a way that is both unique and true to the characters. The "bare facts" of a picture like that would be to put them next to each other and let the viewer see the similarities, the artistic slant would be how I have them interact to emphasize that fact. I often have a problem coming up with this slant

Hmm... well, this is probably silly and totally unusable as an idea, but whenever I see Neji, Hinata, or Ty Lee, I'm always amused by the thought of them poking somebody, intending to deal a lethal blow, and instead of getting the desired reaction, the victim giggles and goes "Stop that! It tickles!" This might work, as they all kind of grew up using that attack method, and could know how to counteract it. And Ty Lee is certainly a giggly thing.
But again, it's probably stupid.

XD It's okay, two of my relatives were making some rather dirty jokes, which led to me instantly thinking that when I saw where Ryuki was. XD The picture itself was very good though, as always.

Yeah... I really wasn't thinking about it that way, then I put up the picture and I get a rain of comments about Ryuki's placement
I haven't thought about a story for him. If he has a sensei, or a team... a crush? All the stuff we know about him just comes from where he's placed and what he's doing to hide

Hmm... well he'd HAVE to have a sensei, but the team would be optional... in my opinion at least. XD And yes, we do know surprisingly little about him....
