I remember playing WW2 game driving this truck. It was so large and bright that the enemy plane can spot it easily. I can see jerrycan

The problem is the trucks had to be large to carry lots of supplies (food, fuel, ammo, spare weapons, parts, uniforms, etc.), but were at risk of bombing from enemy planes all the time. It was important to obtain air superiority, to prevent enemy bombers from seriously disrupting supply lines. Their armor was thin (heavier armor would add weight, which takes away from weight in supplies); never intended for driving into battle, but to supply other things that would drive into battle.
