I going to guess many people who are interracial mixed often find themselves killed, so basically plenty of Americans who are mixed race are going to be fleeing in huge numbers to places like Canada.

This might be better with some colour to indicate what stage of the war they occured in.
Like obviously Muslim, Jewish, and LGBTQ deaths in the south were under the Black Cross- meanwhile Nazi deaths were during the Dixie push-back. But an indicator of what stage in the war makes that clearer.
Though it's also a lot of effort to work out and edit.

Boomercide's such an intriguing concept: unlike "small-lender" groups that stereotypically get targeted for mass murder (Jews in Europe, Greeks and Armenians in Anatolia, Asians in Africa) who have money and get targeted for it, US Boomers also have over half a century of political and economic hegemony that doesn't need any Okhrana or Akazu conspiracy theories, plus social status a la that expressed in the Old Economy Steve meme or Biden's approach to debt

They're also the ones who have been clogging up nearly every important government position and non-entry-level career job for decades now, so to a lot of people it seems like "you've been in charge of everything for decades and I'll you've done is enrich yourself at our expense"

What did you use to determine the boundaries of Federal control amidst the breakdown? How about the mass killings?

Mostly just follows the lore of where the federal legitimist factions set up camp. As for the mass killings, pretty much all of them line up with places like Islamberg, or The Villages, or the wealthier areas of Provincetown, and so on.

This adds to my suspicion the American Civil War here would be the deadliest modern conflict. Especially since it's be the one with the largest amount of elderly, a vulnerable population that is explicitly targeted. An estimated 60 million or so would be around by the 2030s.
Given US fertility rates, the lack of children being born would also be a major reason for the numbers dropping.

No doubt if it goes on long enough you could see some serious death tolls. Internally displaced refugees also add another factor into how any Post-War or even Late War USA would look. As for birth rates, you know it's not a Matty Production if there isn't a baby boom, which uh, will not be fun in a lot of places.

Boomercide brings the whole country together. In reality, it's largely a phenomenon of the early war and the initial "second collapse" of authority that followed the federal proclamations so it's not really a feature of many of the factions of the current war.
