Port ----------------------------------------Esse desenho foi feito pra exposição "Hiroshima e Nagazaki, 60 anos do holocausto". Um tem adificil. Tentei fugir dos cliches como bombas caindo, cogumelos atomicos, aviões e da guerra em si. Muito complicado, mas acabei encontrando uma abordagem mais sutil pra atrocidade cometida pelos americanos em 6 de agosto de 1945.
Desenho à lápis, tatuagem à nanquim, cor no Photoshop.
Espero q gostem e reflitam sobre isso.

This one was made for an Exibition: "Hiroshima and Nagazaki, 60 years from holocaust". I'ts a though subject. I tried to avoid things like planes, war, falling bombs, atomic mushrooms. I belive I've got an alternative vew, a lighter one, of the terrible thing that the US army did to the japanese people in 6th august 1945.
Draw in pencil, tatoo in chinese ink, colors in Photoshop

What an interesting way to portray what happened. It is a strong message, but softly spoken. A very difficult blend to achieve.

Hi.
It's realy dificult to aproach this theme without fall in the same ideas and images. I tried to look at it in a diferent perspective and liked the way it turned out.

Nice! the fact that the guy's not that old leads you to think about the impact on the post-war generation and their view about the events. I like the tattoo it's very powerful, the colors are really cool. Good job

nice, people need to bring this subject up more often. I mean i dont know if anybody realizes, but the Japanese apologize for the War every year....I dont hear one american (especially a politician) apologize about the bombs they dropped. That is never an option to end a war, as they claimed it helped end a war...at what cost. Pisses me off how the west can always use any excuse and its justifiable...

Well, I dont think what we did was terribly wrong, sad, yes, but wrong, meybe not. You do remeber they bombed us at pearl harbour, and brought us into the war. And, one thing you have to understand is that, the japanese in the miliatry did not see death as a bad thing, they saew it as honour, and a great thing, so, the only way to end things, in my opinion would have been to hit the people that did not belive dieng for the emporer as a fantastic honorable curcumstance.

That's not my intent to enter in a polical, cultural, historical discussion. I'm sorry if my draw was offensive against you or your contry, in your point of vew. It wasn't what I wanted to do.
Actualy, I think that your reaction is a good thing, because art has the objective tho make people think, to react. My illustration provoked a reaction in you. And I'm glad because of it.

A beautiful and creative way to express your viewpoint on an extremely controversial issue.
To be perfectly honest, I'm conflicted over how to judge the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I have, however, found that I think these bombings to be no more of a war crime than bombings other countries made (Germany upon Russia/England and the Allies upon Germany), but only in the sense that any indiscriminate bombing without regard for civilians is a war crime. I personally think it was about an equal crime to imprison American citizens of Japanese descent for no reason but their race.
Whoah, I got carried away there. Great work on this, though!
