Two years after losing his best friends, Max unintentionally starts a fight with the only person left. His friendship with Zoe starts to shatter as a known face comes back as a bad guy. His best friend doesn't act the same and even hurts Zoe, which doesn't exactly make Max lose trust in Rex, but it begins a fight that leads to a formal disband of the D-Team. He eventually makes up with both of his friends when he hears Rex's reasons.
He is in contact with Meena and spends a lot of his time encouraging and protecting Justin Komatsu. In this story, he also has an older brother Cole who is not only big support, but also a huge pain in the butt sometimes.
