Potential suggestion, since jeans can still be challenging, have you looked into those faux-jean things before? The stretchy pants that are modeled to look like jeans? Not sure how well they would look in detail but it may be a fun experiment point to try out.

Strangely enough, there are a slew of brands for those jean-leggings. They range from thin and gauzy to fairly thick and non-stretchy and everywhere in-between. It's a good ideal, just need to peg down which style is the right one for our needs. (Which basically means buying a couple of brands, testing them, taking them back for refund and...you get it.)
