No I haven't died yet again (kinda), and to prove it, I'm bringing you this render of Cappy, Mario's partner in the soon-to-be-released Super Mario Odyssey, in his "Mario cap" form. The model is, like.. 70% custom I guess. The model of the red cap is from a game model, I've just edited it a bit topology-wise, but the eyes are 100% custom, same goes for the textures (except the normal map on the cap. I took it from www.poliigon.com , it's a great website, check it out).

I had a weird problem with Blender when it came to rendering out tests as well as the final render. See, this is the first time I actually utilize the new denoising function that comes with the newest version of Blender, v2.79 (I actually use a nightly build of 2.78.5 with the experimental feature set, because 2.79 doesn't support my GPU anymore lol), and for some weird reason it would crash and restart my entire system when the render would reach 99%, which is basically the last denoising phase. I've done multiple tests and I came to the realization that the denoiser would use almost 80% of my memory and cpu power, and since I had other stuff open while rendering, like Chrome and Photoshop, it just crashed my system from overusage. I rendered with only Blender open and it worked just fine.

Anyway, I hope you like this piece, took me a while to do.. well more like a few hours over two or three weeks because of the aforementioned issues I ran into and because I have no time for myself anymore.
