Description Pigtown, Baltimore.

- the little girl on the right seemed to be feeling ignored because of all the attention the baby gets. so i wanted her in the shot just enough to convey that feeling . . .

Yes.  Unfortunate, in some ways that aren't apparent in the photo. . .

seems like 20's-30's...

this family portrait... seems to be... timeless...
there are things... which do not change through years...

I've never been to Baltimore...
but your photos are telling me the true story about this city.

J,

As much as I love Baltimore, the city where I was raised, I recognize that many parts of Baltimore are very, very dangerous now. If you came to America and asked me to show you places, I would be afraid to take you to Baltimore at night. That makes me very sad . . .

The people are very open with you, like children can be...

Great minds certainly do think alike!

I love the what I see a very Steinbeck feel to this.
B&W is a lovely choice and that child just at the borders of the picture is a lovely surreal touch.
Almost opposite to your Charlie Brown composition in your other photo.
We could read all kinds of sibling rivarly symbolism into this too, but I think that would just take things too far!

Beautiful.
And yes, cool!

thanks so much! was your quote in your "information" section ("man is smart, woman is smarter") an allusion to the Robert Palmer song?

we'd like to think it was, but no... it's a quote from Marge Simpson (in that song she does on their CD that came out in the heyday in the 90's. Just imagine it in Marge's voice and you got it )

the girl may not have been sibling rivalry mode just yet, but she seemed sad.
