I absolutely LOVE your take on Chaol. The only pictures I've come across is where he is fair and dark featured; this is so refreshing. You've also nailed Nehemia. This is so great. Oh my god.

Really like the Egyptian vibe I get from Nehemia's design. I'm not familiar with those books (though they sound potentially interesting), but nice portraits!

They all look so beautiful! You've captured the essence of each character really well (especially nehemia and chaol!!)

yes i agree! its also a great exercise in creating different characters, especially in a time when alot characters in animated films, especially female character, have very very similar, if not the same, face shapes/features

Yeah, ever since they moved to computer-animated films, the females have all very rounded faces and short noses, I think it is just easier to animate, but I'm not certain.

the common argument is suggested that its easier to animate that way, what with rapunzel, elsa, and anna
but if you look at other similar movies, and particular at the male faces, theyre are pretty diverse in shape and size, they just tend to stick with the same faces for the young female character because its pretty and they know it will sell well
httyd has face shape and size variety, and merida from brave also looks different

I did a little bit of digging, and the only female animated character I can find that doesn't look like everyone else is the french chef from Ratatoulle (can't remember her name XP) and I suppose that one girl(the twin) from how to train your dragon.

True, she does appear to have a more unique design.

the thing i love, is that i see heaps of artists drawing such unique designs, for characters and comics, and i gives me hope, because we can make up for the lack of diversity, one step at a time, even if it is in not very well known drawings and comics
