Thanks Gigi - they were a hit  I had the girls here today and taught them to crochet a blanket each for theirs.  One's right handed and the other left, so I had my work cut out for me LOL

 HAh! Good for them,
I learned to knit and crochet from a right hander and I am a leftie
I had no problem, the one teaching me seemed confused Haha!

Oh I didn't know you were a leftie.  Then you're extra special  My grandmother and one of my aunts were lefties - it skipped a generation and now 2 of my 3 grandchildren are lefties - the lad and Georgia.  Thanks to YouTube I taught myself to crochet left handed on Monday evening so I could do it both ways by the time the girls came and could show each exactly what they needed to do.  It was a really fun challenge.  I feel for your teacher though - before YouTube I'd have found it really confusing too.  You just don't think about it when you stitch along so trying to reverse something you're not aware of is indeed a brain twister.  But with YT I could just watch, absorb and copy and it wasn't so bad.

Thats what confused the one that thought me
is how was I getting it by following her who was right hand
I just did haha! Thats great that you were able to learn it Lefty style too
Because most people are Right hand anything or pretty well almost anything I have learned
was watching a right hander haha! but always figured it out, when I did practice  I was able to write
with right hand also, and when cutting paper with scissors with right hand because rarely can one
find left hand scissors for that, so learned in school that really I could control the movement of the paper
with left hand as I cut with the right, at the time it was almost just the end of when the "nuns" were giving up forcing
young children to be all right hand ~ isn't it sad that before hand - Lefties were not allowed, talk about
messing up the mind of TRUE true lefties, because I have met some that cannot figure out how to do
lefty stuff when watching a right hander Funny but also sad, I know some people - it messed them up
in learning skills when younger because of being forced to use right hand, was it the same when you were younger?

Ha ha - don't they say that lefties are smarter?  That's how you got it when she was confused  I'd originally planned to have Georgia facing me so she could copy my actions mirror-style, but YouTube was much better!

Yes, my grandmother was caned regularly across the knuckles if she used her pencil in her left hand, it's very sad.  I bought left handed scissors for Georgia when she was still quite young - one pair for here and one for her house.  At school they have both, which is fantastic.  There was a left handed boy in my class when I was in primary school as he was allowed to use his left hand to write, thankfully.  I very occasionally use my left to write, just for the experience of it.  And of course for my nail art I have to paint the details using both hands.  It didn't take me too long to be crocheting easily with my left.  Still not as smoothly as with my right, but not painful or awkward at all.  I suppose I like a challenge LOL

OH thats great May, yes and its also a good challenge for the mind as well
Did your grandmother remain a lefty even with teachers not allowing it ?
Thats is great that the schools now have both

She mostly wrote with her right hand but you could tell it wasn't meant to be by her writing.  I guess those years of schooling were enough to subdue her for life though which is a great shame.  She did everything else left handed, though of course you couldn't buy leftie scissors etc in those days.  I even bought a left handed pencil sharpener for Georgia - it's amazing what they have in the little online shop.  It's in Australia so I'm sure Canada or the USA would have one if you felt the need.  Are there others in your family that are lefties as well?
