Charity commission by for my Dec 2010 fundraising. ^^Lu Ten is Iroh's son who died in a battle in Avatar the last air bender series on nick.
Q: Is this supposed to be the spirit of his son? But wait, his son was nearly an adult when he died. I would be interested in hearing the story behind this...
A: i thought about it, but i think the adult son would be too serious, making the picture gloomy, and then i thought that once a person return to spirit form one doesn't have to stay with one's physical age, so i chose the younger son form.

Sad, but sweet....
And just like you mentioned in this picture's description, I, too, have always thought (in fiction and in real life too) perhaps spirits can shift between ages in the afterlife, depending on their mood. So maybe Lu-Ten was feeling playful and wanted to be a little boy again this particular day. Makes sense enough to me.

When I saw your pic my first thought was that is such a heart warming but heart breaking picture. It really has a beautiful feeling to it.
In regards to you comment about the spirit being in child form instead of adult Couldn't you also say that spirits return to a time in their lives when they were most happy once they pass over?

Korra becomes a child again because her feelings make her feel small and helpless. Maybe Lu Ten associates innocence and happiness with childhood, and that's how he feels in the spirit world? Great fanart in any case, it's great to see those drawn. Thank you for that.

What is interesting is that, if Lu Ten was still alive by the end of the war, I am sure he would side with Iroh in helping Zuko, and I always depict Lu Ten as a tender person jus like his father. And he didn't seem to show the cruelty that made Sozin's, Azulon, Ozai and Azula into fearsome individuals. And Lu ten was not even born on summer like most Firebenders, instead being born on spring.
