I have a question, did you color her left eye with all the grey graphite remained on her eye?
Wonderful work!

Seeing the careful execution of this drawing, we can only applaud the great work you have done with great love in every detail!!
In particular we prefer the two eyes in black and white. (it's only our opinion ).

Thank you

I really liked B&W version. The only reason I decided to use colors was because the 'spell' wasn't very noticeable. I think I accomplished what I wanted, that her left eye being the focal point, but to be honest with you... I do regret just a bit.

beautiful step by step! mayumi wanted to ask you about the electric eraser what brand do you use? and is it too powerful? i want to get one but i'm afraid i may ruin my paper if i apply to much pressure since i dont know how to use it
i think it will be easier to use an electric eraser especially for details like this, i still use my kneaded eraser i get so much wrist paint from it sometimes

Thank you, Katerina!
I use Derwent [link] (I think it's a Canadian site) If you press it onto your paper it slows down, it's quite gentle. The tip spins very fast so all you have to do is to let it touch the paper lightly. I've been using on my bristol paper and I'm very happy with it. The only thing you have to be careful is that the eraser tip collects graphite very quickly so you have to keep checking. Just run it on clean paper for a few seconds, otherwise you'd actually rub graphite down into the tooth of your paper instead of lifting graphite off of it. I highly recommend it!
Hope this would work for you so you won't suffer much wrist pain.

I think the way you draw the hair matches very nicely with the style of your drawing. What kind of problems do you have?

Ice-Nimbus [2011-06-02 07:17:47 +0000 UTC]

so when it comes to the grid do you erase it later or do you pencil it in lightly to be covered by the shading? otherwise, i think its great picture altogether.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MayumiOgihara In reply to Ice-Nimbus [2011-06-02 15:20:47 +0000 UTC]

I erase it mostly, and I draw the grid very lightly as well to avoid leaving any unwanted pencil marks.

Thank you
