EDIT helped me make the clouds all pretty. Apparently the lack of contrast had bugged her for a while. watched from the shadows.
Howl from Howl's Moving Castle for 's Weekly Fanart Challenge Week 9 (Hayao Miyazaki).
I think this turned out extremely well! I usually perfer my original sketch compared to the colored and inked version. I decided to do Howl because he is my favorite male character in the Miyazaki movies I've seen. He can pull of wearing a pair of earrings and a necklace without looking like a crossdresser. Instead of exactly following his first outfit I tweaked it and decided to use whatever colors I felt like. I also tried to make the coloring look more like it belonged in an animation.
Copic markers, prismacolor markers, white gel pen, and copic multiliners on manga paper. I was sort of cofused about what catergory I should put this in. Howl was inked and colored traditionally but the clouds were done with photoshop. Does that count as mixed media? Even if it does they don't have that as an option for the manga section.

When I do fanart, I don't like to copy the original style. I do try to make the eyes look a little like the original to make sure people know what character I'm drawing.

It's their chins and general face shape! I try to draw it all manly and it looks like a drawing by a first grader. Then I quit and start drawing a normal face . . .

I know!! me too, that happens so much i almost gave up on drawing guys, obviously i don't draw them alot though, as you can see in my gallery, there is like.. only one guy in it i think XDD andthat was a loooooong time ago. plus i stopped posting guys since then. so i don't post the guys i draw on DA XDD

Very pretty!! You managed to capture both sides of Howl in one image. Effective, but not overpowering. Very nice.

Yea, this is just crazy awesome...lols, and Howl is actually a hilarious character. I just finished the movie with my sisters this morning (we borrowed it)...I m prbly going to rant in my journal about it....rrrr......

i dunno what they do....maybe they have some sort of scanning device that does a basic general check? Because every time they changed my deviation thingy i felt it was unjust...D:
