Ignis is an independent and hardworking individual with nothing nice to say, most of the time. Although he may not be the most sociable person, he takes pride in being strong, self-reliant and disciplined. He often believes that being self-sufficient is better than relying on people, because that often gives him a reason to have to give back (even favors, and factors of getting even), which most of the time is something he rather not do, due to his prideful nature. Quite stubborn, he is also the kind that would stand and fight to his very last breath. Even so, a part of him knows how to listen and he is also able to hold his tongue and be civil when presented with fact.

Quick to judge people on mere glance, he prefers solitude and to having little to a few close friends, especially those that could break through the wall that he puts up, plus those who don't mind his evasive behaviour and use of sarcastic words. In fact, persistence seems to be the only way to make him give into company. He is terrible at expressing what he really means, and due to that he often resorts to insulting or not saying anything at all. He is temperamental and moody too, he finds it difficult control his anger, and is very easily annoyed. Despite so, he is observant enough (if he only made more effort to instead of judging people asap) to know if a person is being genuine or fake. Only so, he would slowly let his guard down, and show his awkward tries to be nicer to those he actually makes effort to care about.

▵ BACKGROUND ▿
Born in Russia, his family moved to America out of a necessity and job relocation and as a child upto his teens, his face seems to attract trouble (is it the perpetual frown?). It became troublesome for him as people loved picking fights with him for some reason. All he wanted was to be left alone, but his pride and stubbornness did not allow him to sit out, so he fights back. Despite his appearance and personality, he was intelligent and he studies well, but his grades suffered because of the reputation he had among his peers, and stereotyping by the teachers classifying him as a delinquent. He was left jaded and filled with distrust from his highschool experience.
He was able to graduate, although barely, and leaving the city for college was probably the best decision he made. The problem that came along later was how difficult it was to open up to people, since he unconsciously developed a barrier that rejects people from getting close. He often had the feeling people have ulterior motives when people wanted to get to know him, especially when they have fake-looking smiles or tries to be nice when they're not. Meanwhile, his interest in Forensic Science was made of two things, first being his interest in Science, particularly how scientific evidence can be very powerful, as the forensic scientist must be accurate, methodical, detailed, and unbiased. Secondly, evidence doesn't lie (dead people can't lie too). Drawn to those reasons was how he got himself enrolled in UC, which was something he tried very hard to apply into. He also eventually tried opening up to people and even considered dating later that year. He suffers from a bad break up after almost a year of dating, and eventually came to a current conclusion that his happiness isn't with someone else. After that, he decided to take a step back on building relationships with people and placed all his effort in his studies and hobby/job instead.
He works during off-school hours at Queen Mab's as a barista to provide some income for his mother and her medical fees, for school fees, as well as to help with Mischa’s education, as the cafe also has a decent pay. Coffee-making became his side hobby since the concentration and the aroma of coffee itself calms him down, helping him to cope and control his temper. He was in a bad place when he first started out at Crestwood, and feels indebted to the shop owner for helping him with his newfound anchor, thus his own way of repayment was to work under her.
As for the town's bizarre atmosphere and paranomal, Ignis chooses to ignore it despite having see things, as he believes there is some logical explanation behind it, despite knowing deep inside it may be real he chooses to believe in what he sees. (although in this case, he might just continue to be in an utter denial state.)
