Kind-hearted and gentle, Caleb is an amicable young man who has both his wits and manners about him. He is a realist who doesn't entertain any great ambitions for himself, and is uncomfortable being cast in the spotlight-- preferring quiet and solitary activities to the flashy kind. Despite settling for less lofty goals however, Caleb is quite assured in what he knows he's capable of. Rather than lacking confidence, he lacks initiative, and often shies away from opportunities he finds to be too challenging. He also lacks the easy charisma that comes naturally to most of his family, but makes up for his awkwardness with honesty and a genuine goodness.

Valuing good manners above all, he struggles to deal with anyone who he finds abrasive or intimidating- often yielding to stronger personalities. Though generally an indecisive person, when Caleb has set his mind to something he is often unable to be dissuaded from that path regardless of what inconveniences it may bring to himself or those around him. Background:

The eldest son of a family famed for their politicians, from a young age Caleb felt a stifling expectation for him to follow in his forebearers' footsteps. Nervous by nature, he was maladapted to his father and mother's socialite lifestyle- and where his family enjoyed football and barbeques, he preferred puzzles and books. In his earliest years, he struggled to bond with his father, preferring by far his mother whom he clung to with a worrisome desperation. But at the age of seven, placed on his first pony, Caleb found that horses were the common denominator between himself and his family. Gaining some semblance of confidence through riding and caring for giant yet gentle beasts, Caleb was able to take his newfound self and make a handful of friends out of the wealthy kids whose families his own associated with at social functions and white picket parties. He seemed set on the right path at last, comfortable in his skin and with everyone around him.

But all was not well in their picture perfect family, and what confidence Caleb had grown within himself was used up to weather the worst of his father and mother's turbulent marriage through the following years; when awful secrets came out of the closet and both parents found themselves relying on their awkward child more than ever before to piece together what was left. Between acting as a comfort to both his mother and father, and attempting to shield his younger sister from things that his own young mind struggled to understand, he found himself withdrawn from friends and the public eye once again, too nervous to misstep lest he become another source of discord in the fragile family.

Stability, restored in his preteens, was not enough to pull him out of his shell again. He spent the entirety of his middle school and high school years plodding along with mediocre grades and a nigh non-existant social life, but avidly consuming his own handpicked material outside of class. In his junior year he discovered a particular passion for outer space, physics, and engineering- but embarrassed at how it clearly deviated from family tradition and too anxious to rock the boat, he settled for an undeclared major, hoping to put off breaking the news to his father even just a little longer. He eventually settled to enroll at Crestwood after failing the interview portion at a number of Ivies (rather, he failed to show up for the interview out of nerves more times than not) and after ascertaining that Crestwood was remote and peaceful in comparison to more prestigious but city-centric schools.

Caleb's first semester was filled with nothing but distasteful political science classes, but as time goes on, more and more science classes are making their way into his schedule...

Additional Information:
- His family was Protestant, but after the family drama they no longer actively practice, and Caleb is privately aetheist.
- He believes there's a scientific explanation for everything, and so suffers greatly from second-hand embarrassment whenever anyone goes on about the 'supernatural' or 'extraterrestrial' happenings at Crestwood. He's too polite to say so however, and so seems only uninterested in the subject.
- Caleb has a surprisingly high tolerance for horror and gore genres despite his nervous disposition. He is quite calm when playing games such as Slender or Mortal Kombat.
