Description acrylics on paper 14"X10".
Elliot Cowan as Mr Darcy from Lost In Austen. I found this image and decided i liked it more than the other one...any excuse to paint Mr Darcy! I'm also pleased that i've found another actor to paint.
There was a bit in the final episode that really appealed to me where Darcy followed Amanda through the time rift and said somethig along the lines of 'I'd follow you anywhere'. That was so sweet! I think i may be addicted to romance.

Woo-hoo! I'm so happy you did this.

Sorry, but I was just now able to watch Lost in Austen. I absolutely loved it. I refuse to give my copy back to the library till I have watched it at least one more time.

I got slightly obsessed with this guy when i saw Lost In Austen It was so good wasn't it? Elliot Cowan is such a sweetheart
Thank you so much for ing him I have painted other portraits of this Darcy (just in case you haven't seen them)

I know what you mean. I lost a lot of sleep one night when I put it on at 4am...and then watched the whole thing in one sitting. I thought it would be broken into episodes, not spliced together into one long, 3 hrs movie!!! Oh well, worth it. He made a pretty good Darcy in my opinion. I didn't think I would like him at first, but I got over that pretty quickly.

I'm going to have to go re-check your gallery then, I probably didn't recognize him the first time I went through it (I hadn't seen the show yet ).

And no problem on the , I love your work!

oops!! I think it's done in episodes on my DVD...i did notice that they'd cut bits out from what was shown originally in TV though
I saw Elliot interviewed just before it was broadcast so i had to give it a go because he seemed so striking then

He would certainly capture my interest too.

Oh, now you've got me worried that my DVD is missing some of the original content.

Probably, don't know why they do that There wasn't much missing on the UK DVD but Amanda singing Downtown was certainly cut...did you get that bit?
It's not as bad as a TV film called Flood which i saw when on TV then got the DVD to find they'd cut out massive chunks of the story and a whole family of characters WHY?? What's the point?

jennieannie In reply to Mazzi294 [2009-06-15 21:25:19 +0000 UTC]

Amanda singing Downtown? I don't remember that part, so it probably was cut (that or I was more tired than I thought).

Wow, that's really horrible. Why on Earth cut from TV to DVD? It's the opposite over here. For example, we get Doctor Who on Sci-fi channel and they cut the hell out of it. When Last of the Timelords aired, I was floored. They cut out so much of it to make room for commercials that interupt the programming begin with!!! Seriously, they cut The Master's 'I can't Decide' song, along with other missing information (including Martha's whole,'I'm traveling with a Doctor' bit to Tom Milligan and how she stays 'invisible' to the Toclafane); and it was choppy...I was... Luckily I had watched it offline first, so I hadn't missed anything. But still, ya know? I think it's pointless to do that.

Oh nooo!! That's criminal, the I Can't Decide bit is one of my fave scenes! My uncle in Hong Kong always says they do that there.

LOVE THIS SHOW!!! haha, i was raised with colin firth and all my friends thought he was very swoon worthy.haha, dont get me wrong. huge fan of colin, and his acting was amazing, but if he looked like elliot... i would be unconsious on the floor. and mr darcy saying tinky winky was just amazing

you did this very very well.. this is brilliant, excellent subject matter.

it's excellent isn't it? Love it too! It's tough to choose for me because they're both GORGEOUS and fantastic at playing (very different) Mr Darcy's. Elliot was amazing in this, and he's such a sweetheart too. Tinky Winky bit was so funny!!
Thank you so much

haha. i can see why you are torn. i mean you have a colin firth fanclub... which i should join now that i think about it. no dont get me wrong. colin firths darcy was my darcy for a very long time. it might have been because all my friends keep making remarks while we were watching it for school, and i wasnt into checking out guys then... though i have it down stairs... i should watch it again. he was sweet and lovely and brilliant. but im classing it on swwonworthy, and elliot jumps ahead alittle

I recently saw Lost in Austen. I have to admit I liked him as Mr. Darcy more than I liked Colin Firth. He has more of an aristocratic air, I think. I love the lighting, especially on his face, nice work.

Mazzi294 In reply to serene-topaz [2008-12-02 12:56:02 +0000 UTC]

hehe! I'm in difficult territory there, i think they were equally excellent as their Darcy's were different. I think Elliot is taller and has a longer face so probably carried that aristocratic air better. They were both ace at being miserable though!! Did you enjoy Lost In Austen?
Thank you very much and for ing him too. This is the piece I'm most proud of so far

serene-topaz In reply to Mazzi294 [2008-12-03 07:03:10 +0000 UTC]

Difficult territory indeed... I have to hide from Colin Firth fans on this one.
I did enjoy Lost in Austen, it was entertaining! I liked the actors I think Hugh Bonneville was a great Mr Bennet and I liked how they portrayed Mary as well, the other versions made her too serious. I always imagined she hid behind her seriousness and sermons to catch an intelligent man (... although she won't go far with the cliche sermons she gives...) and hid behind her indifference to balls and such to hide her hurt about not being asked to dance.
It was nice to hear the characters say things they didn't say in the novel. On the downside I don't like what they did to Caroline. Only other thing I have to say is I wish they'd make a 'real' Pride and Prejudice using the same actors.

i'll forgive you as it's Elliot Cowan!
I thought they were all really good. Hugh Bonneville was fantastic. I enjoyed watching the story fall apart, was an interesting take on it. I loved it when they went back through the rift into our time. Darcy dealing with modern life was funny
Great stuff, maybe they'll do another book?
