Description I've been gearing up to do more traditional work lately. Not that I'm giving up digital, but I'd like to get back to basics a bit more. I start a life drawing course this next week, I'm SO EXCITED about that !

This is a quick (about 5 hour) study, watercolour and coloured pencil. Just goofing around I feel like I can hear rusty gears and squeaky wheels turning when I work traditionally...and I'm not exaggerating, I constantly look for the undo button when I mess up. Just for a split second...

This is a cruddy scan, folks, I'm sorry. The paper didn't fit so well on the scanner. If it's really distracting say something and I'll redo it

Wow this is just amazing!!! Very well painted and so lovely

I just would give it more contrast in Photoshop - just a little ...

Froggy is just beautiful. I love the pastel shades, it has such a lovely, peaceful, gentle and happy 'feel' to it. I think the 'traditional' can't be beaten - it is such a wonderful gift to have, and one I certainly do not possess!

This was a nice combo of mediums. I usually only use one at a time... I should experiment with combinations too

Just goofing around? *sigh* I wish my serious efforts were half as good as your 'goofings', he's wonderful. Such fantastic detail on his body.

Well, goofing around as in...I just wanted to paint spontaneously without planning things out properly. I think that's more of a problem in traditional. One of the things I love about digital is I can move things around, resize, etc until I like them and no harm done I love that

Thanks for the comment dear

Yeah, both mediums have their good and bad points. I really haven't picked a favorite yet.

Yeah, it really is nice to push myself a bit. I've been feeling stagnated lately, I need a shot in the arm to get me moving again I hope this helps!

I like the way the frog turned out. You can feel his shape really well. Good to see you playing with traditional again, and glad to hear you've got a class to attend. That should be fun and very beneficial.

Thanks Yep, it's pretty fun pushing myself with traditional, and a good way to work on somethings I find very difficult. I think digital is making me a bit flabby and lazy lately...best to push for improvement.

I had my first class last night, it went well It was another chance to see how I need to put more thought into plotting things out before putting pencil to paper

well, digital is different, and just the little I've done makes me want the undo button on my traditional all the time. darn it!

I think it's gorgeous... I love the subject! I've been getting back into my pencils again too... I think a variety of mediums is good in a gallery! And the scan looks perfect to me.

Thank you dear

Yeah! You've been blowing me away with your digital work, hon you picked it up so fast! But you're right, it's good to keep your traditional materials handy...I realised lately how lazy digital work has made me, it's easy to get caught up in the ability to change things as you go. I need to put more initial thought into my work again, trying to force myself back into that
