I really like the Jamie McKelvie-redesigned Captain Marvel. The guy knows how to wrap his head around practical costume design. I'm not entirely sold on the hair yet, but that's only because I haven't seen enough of a range in depictions to figure out how it works.Drawn for the Third Rail Design Lab Weekly ArtJam - and only two weeks late this time! That's pretty good for me. Created with PITT Pens, Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator CS5.5.

I definitely love the military-esque design of Captain Marvel's new look, but I agree with you I just haven't had enough of an understanding of how her hair actually is done. This looks great

Out-STANDing! Nice color palette and the design effects on the star "really tie the room together." Well done, sir! This is cover material to be sure. Slap some trade dress on that puppy and it's ready for print!

Thanks Kojo. I liked playing up the bright highlights on her to give the uniform a "constellation" effect. Sort of a happy accident while I was playing around with things.

the more I see it the more I like it, I agree I have not seen enough of the suit in action to really make a full judgement, but I do like the uniform...

That may have been misleading now that I think of it - I really only used Illustrator on this piece to do the symbol shape in the background. I just used it enough on different layers I credited Illustrator without really thinking about it. Photoshop did all the heavy lifting as far as the background is concerned.
