Description I really should get a film scanner. It'll cost me everything that I have, but it would really improve the quality of my scans.

Anyways, I know what everyone is going to think about the first time that they see this one - what's with the arena of negative space. Well, I'm going to do something that I've always wanted to do - I'm not changing it, because I like it. I know it goes against all your rules and regulations on composition and whatnot, but too bad, not this time, it stays.

All other comments and suggestions, however, would be greatly appreciated and eagerly considered.

I was just cruising around your gallery, not quite sure how I landed here...one of those times where I hopped from one deviants page to another around the site until I finally landed here.

Anyway, as I scrolled through your gallery, this shot really stood out.

Personally, I like the negative space, but then, that would be come quite obvious if you ever get a chance to browse my gallery.

I like the lighting, and the way it sorta feels like you just caught him in a moment of quite thought, looking out a window, or something.

I love the position of his hand on his face, it just seems natural, not forced.

Awesome work, you entire gallery is great!

I *love* negative space--lots of it. Can't get enough of it actually, and I love the use of it here, plus the pose. The only thing I saw that I would have changed is the slight bit of fog or light leakage (or whatever) at the bottom of the image--would probably be easy to edit it with a little judicious use of contrast, cloning, or whatever your digital tool of choice is (don't know if you use those at all, but it could be changed that way easily if you wanted, I'd be happy to do it if you're interested and agree with this opinion).

That would most likely be because I used to edit with my screen really dark, so a lot of my images look kind ... crappy ... when viewed on a brighter, or an LCD/Laptop screen. I'll eventually get around to going back and editing them properly, but for now I'm leaving them as they are ... so it's not ACTUALLY part of the image, just an odd mistake.

Thanks for telling me about this one, though. It's appreciated.

on the contrary, I think the use of negative space makes this picture, there is a beautiful balance in the pose also

Thank you very much. I've always been a fan of extreme negative space - it almost becomes activated in it's own way.

I love the negative space hun.

It (again, like most of your pictures) goes with the models expression.

The negative space makes the picture look thoughtful and he looks for lack of better a word spacey..and the negative space really makes it seem like he has room for his head and for his thoughts...no cramping or clutter very nice

i believe the large amount of negative space adds a great weight to the tone of the photo. it seems to almost weigh the subject down. he's in deep thought and you can almost view the inner-goings of his mind just above his head.

Excellent - exactly what I going for. Yes, that's it.

Thanks for letting me know what you say in it, though. I like to hear how people read images too, not just what they think about it.

The negative space is this shot. Its wonderful. It drags my eyes all around his outline from shoulder, to where it meets his hair, to it shadowing his other hand. Its like hes beung enveloped by it. I love it. +fav

I am a huge fan of negative space so you will get no opposition from me in that regard. It really is a wonderful shot, I love his expression and his hand is placed perfectly on his face. You lighting is wonderful, pal. Very nice shot.

The negative space stays. F^ck composition. It looks good. It balances him out. Oh, and he's hot. All in good taste.

Good luck in photography for the future.
