Behold the Crystal Princess Cadance.So, thanks to a discussion I read online, I realized that Princess Cadance may well be the biggest badflank in the show. Unlike Twilight and her friends, Cadance has no qualms whatsoever in dispatching her enemies with all her might. Consider the fate of King Sombra. Who else has a confirmed kill on screen of another pony in the show other than Cadance? The Power of Love is a scary thing when used in anger.
And yet she's so very nice and friendly. Probably because she can afford to be.
This drawing was fun since I had to draw Princess Cadance in a different role than usual. It's easy to think up a nice, friendly role for her, but I want a full on Paladin outfit for her. With lots of hearts on it. Also, there's something amusing about the colors used for her amor, see if you can figure out what it is. And while you're at it, where did her sword design come from?

Nice Contrast with the coloring of the armor and the hearts on them; along with her smug look and her sword (which reminds me of Theoden's Rohan Sword from Lord of the Rings).

As sort of a gesture of thanks, I'll reveal a few silly bits of trivia about this one, and answer the two questions I asked in the description.
1. The colors used for Cadance's armor are, of course, Shining Armor's coat and mane colors. I like a visual pun like that.
2. The blade of the sword is the tower of the Crystal Empire palace, it just has a nice sword-like design to use. The hilt is in the style of the smaller towers.
I amuse myself with putting in silly references like these at times. But really, when the question "What color is Cadance's armor?" was asked in my mind, it had to be Shining Armor's colors. Better than the pink/gold thing I was thinking of initially. Pink/gold is nice, but she's already very pink.

Great job. There is still a lot to improve, but you were able to offer a great impression, and sometimes that what counts the most.
The color scheme is quite peculiar, but it does work.

Yeah, still a lot to improve on, but I'm happy with this one so far. It could be one of those to revisit when I get better, just to see what I could do with more experience.
As for the armor coloring, well, you know why it's white with dusty dark blue trims. It's referencing a certain somepony, after all.

Well, when I was doing the design for the armor, I noticed that to give the front legs enough range of motion, the chest piece became heart-shaped. Then I needed a decoration for it, and again, heart. It sort of escalated from there. If in doubt... MORE hearts!

Kingdom Hearts? I was actually using Fire Emblem as a reference for the armor. The Paladin Titania of Path of Radiance to be exact.
I considered braiding Cadance's mane and tail like Tatiania's long ponytail, but I have no idea whatsoever how to color a braided tri-color mane like Cadance's. So, she kept here regular mane style.

Shining Armor: Cadance, Honey...we already have mare knights. We're not exactly shy about it either. In fact we just recruited ten new ones today.

Considering how mare focused the pony society is, it'd be a bigger surprise if they didn't have female knights.
