Description PLEASE READ! Thanks!

Werewolf figure again! ALMOST done...just a few more days maybe...tops.

The figure stands at about 8 inches tall, and I took some artistic liberty with certain details like the dewclaws and five digits like a human (I know wolves have 4 toes, my design is intentional).

I still have work on the left arm and hand, the entire backside needs work, and the base needs to be all detailed out... then I'll be done!

I will be selling castings and painted castings when he's done for between $200.00 and $250.00 I'm estimating. I charge for my time and supplies only, even though I cast things in extremely limited numbers. Molding and casting a figure this size is very expensive because I use a STURDY quality resin....these will also be time consuming to cast and paint (usually there's allot of air bubbles and such to pick out of the details on figures like this).

If you can't tell by this one photo, he's just in a low crouch/stance...and his tail is swishing up around his left leg .

The casting will, yeah . Not the original clay sculpt though...I'll make a mold from it, then cast some in resin.

Thank you!

I do have stuff for less in my etsy account if you have any interest...I know how it is to be tight on money though, that's for sure! If I could charge less I would, but supplies to make stuff costs a fortune, and they take allot of time too. [link]

Yeah ^^ I understand why you can't take the price down. The problem for me is that I live in EU. So I will have to pay extra for the shipping :C and customs.

Meadowknight In reply to WolfknightlordJ [2011-04-11 18:08:29 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! XD...well I take so many hours sculpting my stuff, I know making ANYTHING takes a long time...and I don't sew/make plushies. So yeah, if you're willing when you have time...I'd love to do a trade for my main werewolf dude in his werewolf form. It'd be like having a toy of him that I can't really make myself XD.

Unfortunately all I have posted that really shows the character is an old pic. I can do allot better now, this is an old painting I did using the mouse..before I even knew how to use layers XD. This is him in the front, and him in wolf form in the back...but before we do any trade (later when you have time)...I'll draw/paint an updated version to give a better color combination update. This old one is just a sorta washed out brown. But basically...he just has a torn up shirt, and torn up pants with a belt, and I can make the belt/buckle.

But for now, old pic, lol. My current style of werewolves is like my figure I linked though - [link]

Yeah, it's hard for me to tell the gradients, I suppose in the newer one, maybe try using a simple flat-paint job so I can tell for certain where to put seams XD.

Meadowknight In reply to WolfknightlordJ [2011-04-11 18:45:23 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, no worries, lol. I'll keep the coloring simple for guidelines so it's not a nightmare. I usually know what I want out of stuff...so I can help by giving you clear instructions as long as it doesn't hurt your own creative process and style .

The main thing I'm going with for him..is to have coloring like a black wolf...and they usually have some brownish hues. maybe similar to this one with the black and brown..but no white...I'll figure something out that's not a pain for you, lol. And the shirt will just be shreds, so if he had the cool little muscles like your others that' be great . [link]

WolfknightlordJ In reply to Meadowknight [2011-04-11 19:06:17 +0000 UTC]

MUSCLES are a standard feature ! XD. At least on my totally new guys. The arms may not look as muscular depending on the length of the fur used, but the chest/abdomen will seem muscular.

I don't mind it being detailed, but it would be hard to do speckles or small markings. Just clear places I should make markings so I don't make mistakes XD.

Okay, lol..well just letting you know I'm not anal or anything. I'm not super picky. I would like it to be as durable as it can be...but will be careful with it no matter what, lol.

I do really like the eyes you use too by the way.

There are some certain details we can go over later..if you end up having enough time and all . I'll be sure to be clear with the diagram though...and I'll look at your stuff again before I color it so I'm more familiar with the materials you use and I can say "I like this best", etc..

I'll also need to know how you'll want your figure from ME painted, if you have me paint it. I probably won't have castings available to trade for a month or two at least, because of ren fair and I'm already getting pre-orders on it even though it's not done XD...but I'll keep ya posted.

WolfknightlordJ In reply to Meadowknight [2011-04-11 19:36:27 +0000 UTC]

Sure sure. I'll show you what I have when we get to that. When you make a new ref, we can go over it, just make sure to tell me when you do.

I like this pre-planning thing XD.

Maybe I would ask for it painted? How much more would you usually charge for painted pieces? I am not sure yet, but it would be a realistic black wolf color if it was. I'll link you to a picture.

Meadowknight In reply to WolfknightlordJ [2011-04-11 20:07:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah plotting is fun indeed XD...any kind of creative plotting is fun!

Well, for unpainted I'm estimating charging $200.00 for this particular casting. He's 8 inches tall, but for a sculpt that's big for me to mold and cast (supplies for that COST)...and de-molding cleanup work takes allot of time, so does painting. For a fully painted figure I'm selling them at $250.00. I've already received a $250.00 pre-order..which is how I just bought mold making and casting supplies for the figure.

So whatever/however you make my figure...just keep that price range in mind I suppose. But I'm not gonna be a Nazi about it, lol. ALL artwork takes a long time..and yours will be super special cause it's not something you're popping out of a mold. This figure took me weeks to sculpt though..and I'm still at it. My price is still fair since I get a very limited amount out of a mold before it tears/wears out...and things like painting once sculpting is done takes hours.

We'll work out something fair, and when the pieces are done we can post the photos to make sure we're both happy .

WolfknightlordJ In reply to Meadowknight [2011-04-11 22:28:43 +0000 UTC]

Ok, that sounds like similar to my normal cost range for a colorful one. The guidelines I use for pricing anthros tends to be:

One color: 110-130 dollars depending on detail
Simple bicolor(like a husky with no face markings, or a tiger since I paint on the stripes)- 200-240
Complicated-270-320 (Depends, usually for my really complicated bi/tricolor wolves, and realistic melanistic wolves with white and so forth.
Claws +open mouth with teeth =40 dollars, or 25 for one.

The guide is vague for my pricing guidelines. XD

So it works out about the same as a painted piece I think, with the scheme you are going with. I believe you about the time/effort, even a nice factory-made sculpture is VERY EXPENSIVE XD.

It will be a while before I am able to make it of course.
