# About me

I'm a 36 year old self taught traditional artist (aside from a couple life drawing classes), and I am currently working as a contract artist for Safari Ltd. sculpting, painting and doing a tiny bit of design work for them (spring 2015 to present), and I am also a independent toy maker on the side working on my own franchise.

I do know some digital art in Photoshop and Zbrush (and love it so far!), but I haven't been able to invest the time into furthering my ability with it yet since my main work demand is still traditional. It's something I really want to make time for though as soon as I'm able, as I really enjoy it and don't want to be pigeon holed as a traditional artist only.

Life has gotten extremely busy for me so I haven't been as active on here as I used to be. If you want to buy any of my personal independent work, I list it in two different stores! Pendants can be found in my etsy shop here --> www.etsy.com/shop/Meadowknight… And my independent toy work can be found in my Storenvy here --> meadowknight.storenvy.com/ . The fastest way to contact me is by email at meadowknight@yahoo.com as I am not on Deviant Art as much anymore. God bless!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Meadowknight In reply to SonofThunderCatholic [2016-11-13 08:17:00 +0000 UTC]

Honestly I don't know! I like a lot of different ones for different reasons. I'm really liking amargasaurus, and stegosaurus, I also love dimetrodon but read somewhere that's not considered a dinosaur, lol. I love the predatory raptor like ones as well but who doesn't.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SonofThunderCatholic In reply to Meadowknight [2016-11-13 18:15:08 +0000 UTC]

Dimetrodon indeed is not a dinosaur. Having in mind the number of holes on it's skull it is closely related to mammals than to dinosaurs. Well, it seems not everyone can choose a favourite dinosaur (if I did not prefer bone crushing jaws over meat slicing ones I would probably know your pain

Quality doesn't mean that you have a lot of followers, or a lot of messages. It means that you’re nice to other people, and you deserve to be happy. If you get this message, someone is telling you that they love you as you are, and they don’t care how much followers you have. Send this to 10 deviants who deserve it. If you break the chain, nothing will happen. But it’s just good to let someone know that you love them!

I got that from a friend and now am spreading it amongst some friends.

Midday-Mew [2014-07-12 03:39:12 +0000 UTC]

I have a question about polyurethane plastic/resin...you mentioned that you use highly durable polyurethane plastic/resin. Does it come in transparent clear, or only opaque? I want to know before suggesting it to my girlfriend, who is making a crown for a Princess Peach Toadstool cosplay using this tutorial: fav.me/d5kzqpu She and I are hoping to make a permanent, long-lasting cosplay accessory that will never break nor fall into disrepair under normal conditions. Something that won't break if dropped or thrown.

Also, do you have any tips on making the crown in regards to that tutorial?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Meadowknight In reply to Midday-Mew [2014-07-12 05:26:49 +0000 UTC]

Hi there!

They do make a transparent resin, but you will need a pressure pot + compressor or it will be full of air bubbles and look cloudy! The sturdy resin I use is semi-opaque, meaning it looks kind of like milk mixed with water (bright white that's not fully opaque) ...it is also a bit thicker than clear resin and needs to be pressure cast at 60 psi to avoid air bubbles. Our internet is slow tonight so I'm not going to click on that tutorial (I am also pretty busy right now, sorry!)...but it's called Task2 resin and you can get really good pigmentation with it since it's not 100% opaque. The clear resin too...is odd. Some of the not as toxic stuff is pretty brittle, but if you're casting in it, it means you had to make a mold anyways..and you could cast a few. I believe that there is a more sturdy clear resin, but it is highly toxic and you need a special mask and such to work with it. Regarding how to make a mold, it could probably be done with a two piece mold, but you really need a pressure pot to do all this.

What I suggest you guys do, depending on your budget (though either way it will cost you, whether you do it yourself or hire someone...mold making and casting is very costly and takes lots of experience/trial and error)...I suggest you contact a foundry I'm going to link you to whom I use to mold and cast my big werewolf figure. It's a husband and wife (sweet people!) who own a ranch and a molding and casting business for the model horse trade/hobby. If you explain the size, and send them a picture of the crown, and explain you want a transparent and durable piece, they can mold and cast it for you (if you guys made the crown anyways...they are not sculptors). Β It did cost me $450 to pay for the werewolf mold, then $50 per casting. But for a crown it probably won't cost you that much since it would require a lot less material expenses. they have the best prices I know of too. Foundry, they don't ONLY cats horse . ->Β www.resinsbyrandy.com/

Regarding do it yourself..I have never molded and cast anything like that since I do figures, but I would suggest looking up tutorials on youtube, and even contacting Smooth-On and asking them. They have tons of great supplies, and good customer service . Smooth On -->Β www.smooth-on.com/

Hope that helps you guys...Google + youtube can be very helpful! If the crown doesn't need to be fully see-through that will help you a LOT. Many materials are semi-opaque like the resin I use, if it wasn't partially clear my figures would not glow this good ...this is the Task2 resin mixed with a pink colored glow powder, and I actually added opaque white so it wouldn't look gummy-->Β scontent-b-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/hp…

Thanks, I might just do that. I've had quite a few failures, mostly stupid mistakes. I once used Urethane Rubber (thinking it was silicone). What a mess...

Anyway, I will probably be in touch.

Thanks so much for the kind words! I have an etsy account, and a Storenvy setup...but I don't always have everything listed, and prefer private sales through paypal! The pricing on the female werewolf pendants is $25.00 a piece plus shipping! Shipping is $5.00 in the US, and $7.50 for the rest of the world currently. I can also accept cash or postal money orders...and most of these I paint/prepare per order. Shoot me a note and let me know which pendant/s color/s interest you, and if you want to buy one I'll note you back my paypal address. Either way thanks for the kind words!
