Description Please visit my shops! Storenvy (mostly art toys) - meadowknight.storenvy.com/ , and Etsy (mostly pendants) - www.etsy.com/shop/Meadowknight…

Small update! I am currently making a large (large in comparison to my minifigures!) 4 and a half inch tall Ecto-Rex..and he's about 5 and a half inches long if measured from the tip of his nose to his tail.

About the figure; Ecto-Rex is part of a independent toy series I am developing called "Amusing Mini Paranormals". I am designing, sculpting, molding, casting, and also beginning to write a story for it. It's a total labor of love, being inspired by toys I grew up on during the 80s and 90s. Everything I am casting for this toy line I am using the most durable materials available. I mostly use a rigid resin called Task2 that can literally be thrown on hardwood flooring and will not break!Ecto-Rex is inspired by two of my all time favorite films- Jurassic Park, and Ghostbusters, lol. The original Ecto-Rex figure (available in my Storenvy linked above), is only 1.5 inches tall...this guy is much bigger/chunkier and displays very well with the other minis! I thought out of all my characters, he at least should be made to tower over the others being a T-Rex!

About the photo; I hit some unfortunate bumps in the road with production. The new toaster oven we got runs almost a hundred degrees hotter than the dial reads, so I totally fried the original sculpt (well the lame toaster oven did! I didn't do anything wrong, lol). It took an entire weekend to alter/patch/repair/restore him! THEN, the mold came out bad because apparently I used too much release agent, lol. That has only happened to me like 2 other times in the years and years I have been molding. Figures it would happen to me on a LARGE figure that consumes a ton of material @_@. But...the good news is, my repairs worked, and you can't see flaws from the repairs on the cast. The bad news is I have to buy some more silicone later today and remold it before I can make him available for regular sale. After I fill the pre-orders that I made on the AMP facebook page (sold out!) , he will be available for sale in my shop. If anyone here would have been interested in pre ordering, I apologize...but I only made 5 available, then fudged it and accepted a few more. The pre-orders sold out really fast! If you haven't visited my facebook page yet, please check it out, and give it a like to stay up to date.  www.facebook.com/AmusingMiniPa…

For now here's a photo of the repaired original, next to my test cast (that shows some of the minor mold flaws, kinda hard to tell by the photo, but there's some bad dimple texture in a few places). If anyone is interested in getting on a waiting list for this figure, the price will be below or slightly above $50 plus shipping (he consumes a lot of material!). The final price will depend on how many I can cast out of a gallon of resin. If interested leave a post and I'll add you to the list...glow in the dark will be available too for an additional $5!

Hi Angela... first off great web cam (lol)
My question to you is I'm just starting off trying to cast my own sculpts (usually 2-6") and was wondering if you could give my some tips for casting & mold making? Task 2 resin looks interesting ...where can I purchase this?
Thank you for your time.

Hi Stu, sorry for the late reply...I am SWAMPED! the holidays have been nuts and I'm still trying to cut through a big pile of work ....so,. hence the delay, lol.  Mold making and casting is pretty complex! CHoosing proper supplies in of itself is tricky, I can help suggest what to buy depending on a  few factors. You should go on youtube and type in "two piece block mold" into the search..and you'll probably find some tutorials on how to mold. Do you have a pressure pot? Task2 is fantastic and superior in durability to most other rigid resins , but it's a bit thicker so if you don't' have a pressure pot I don't recommend it. If you want to shoot me some more specific questions, along with photos of what you are casting, I can help you more . I can't suggest to you where to buy stuff until i know what coast you live on (west coast, east coast?), and whether or not you have a pressure pot..since I buy different supplies form a few different sources.

Hi Angela! Hey no problem with the delay reading your deviant page sounds like you got a lot going on & that's a good thing!

I don't have a pressure pot (maybe someday) but in the meantime I'm going to get my feet wet with some silicone mold/resisn kit at brickintheyard.com not sure if you heard of them? They have some good youtube how to video which is very informative.

... Like I said I'd want to do some silicone mold/resins ...but I'd also like to cast some in castilene wax (which I've been working with), cast it & redo some mistakes....Any suggestions with that would be great, and yes I can shoot you a picture of this if that helps.

Thank you so much for taking time
out to write back & keep up the great work!
