well i have been a big fan of her since MK9

Alternative timeline spares no one. I hate what they did to her in MK9 (thankfully, in MKX they at least gave her some clothes).
Her pre-retcon concept wasn't perfect either (yeah, "undressing" her started with MKD) but she indeed was a wanted warrior (Shao Kahn and Shinnok resurrected her) and a witted person (can that brainless Flesh Pits abomination from MK9 pose as Kitana? She can't even pose as Mileena.
