I'm always on the lookout for handsome fungus beetles and this is a new addition to my collection, Lycoperdina bovistae, that I pulled out of an old puffball. It was completely coated in spores, so I had to clean it as much as I dared without harming it, but as you can see it wasn't very effective. I might need to add a small brush into my repertoire. Anyway, seeing this guy was awesome as this species is classified as vulnerable according to our Red list of invertebrates. And considering its secretive lifestyle it's a species not many people have seen.
So that's one species from my bucket list for this year done.
