Description
So I started drawing a scene for another setting I'm working on and realized it would also work well for Blood 2 setting.

You will these two guys or a variation of them show up for that other project, but I'm still working out the lore and I really couldn't pass up the chance to write some more stuff for Blood 2.

If there was a word to describe The Combat Augmentation Battlefield Armament Logistics Corporation, or C.A.B.A.L. Corp for short, it would be disruptive.

Since their appearance and their meteoric rise, C.A.B.A.L. has shook up the defense industry on an unprecedented scale in the twilight of the 21st century and dawn of the 22nd. Their most recent innovation has the potential rival combat augmentations and only possibly even drones in their impact on the market.

Bio-borgs are drones utilizing neurological wetware and a majority of other synthetic biological components for computation and locomotion. First created in rudimentary forms at the dawn of the 21st century, bio-borgs were considered mostly dead end until the later half of the century. The augmentation craze, nanotechnology revolution, and rare earth mineral crisis fueled their development like gasoline to dying embers. Unlike cyborgs and augs, their biology is manufactured: flesh is grown at accelerated rates and strengthened with nanotech, and weaved onto and into synthetic frames to mature into a biological automaton. Their natural healing abilities make them more resistant corrosion and ware on traditional mechanical components. Simple muscle tears and shrapnel damage can go away with an hour of rest and food. For more extensive repairs, parts made synthetic allotropes laced flesh and bio composites are far cheaper per pound than titanium or alloy composites. And wetware patches can be fused as quickly as electronic and spintronics can be replaced.

While C.A.B.A.L. did not create the first commercially viable bio-borg, they were the first to strap guns and composite armor to them. One of the first and most successful is The Oni Platform depicted in the advertisment above. It is a jack of all trades heavy infantry platform. It is able to use everything that can be strapped to an exo or light armored vehicle. Its armor is rated to resist 30 mm cannon fire and medium wattage free electron lasers. It is a force to be reckoned with upon the battlefield.

Even with many copycats and rivals emerging in the past decade, C.A.B.A.L.'s bio-borgs seem to have an edge their rivals don't. Most borgs - like traditional drone systems - operate effectively upon their introduction to the battlefield with pre programmed combat tactics, but they and other AI take time to learn and hone their adaptive combat skills just like their humans counterparts. C.A.B.A.L. Corp borgs like the Oni seem to have a spark, an instinctual low cunning and brutal creativity for tactical violence right off the assembly line. This brutality allows oni to go toe to toe with veteran exo and augmented troopers, and has earned them and others in C.A.B.A.L.'s demon line renowned infamy on the battlefield.

15 years is a long time turbulent arms industry. It's enough time for weapon systems to go from bleeding edge to antiquated surplus. Much like the hand howitzer it so often carries, the Oni has stood the test of time and seems to have long bright future ahead.

An experienced Justicar like Gabriella has dealt with more than their fair share of rogue oni to know their soft spots and limitations, and she's not squeemish about being equally brutal. Little does she know, the true power of that spark within them. When the stars are right, the real potential of the onis and their bretherin shall be unleashed...
