The Slingshot was an attempt to make an even cheaper alternative to the Block rifle by removing fully automatic fire. It didn't take, Miners simply preferred full auto. Despite that it does retain the Block rifle's reliability and functionality in any environment. Because of this, amateur miners sometimes equip the Slingshot some variant of scope and use the Slingshot as a poor man's DMR. It's not particularly great at this role, however it is the cheapest of all the Leagues battle rifles, so it still sees regular use. It's also a fairly short rifle design, even making it popular with young miners working in tight environments. A very strange trend is to use the weapon as a sort of 'cave sniper' using its accuracy and short build in tight places that may have long lines of sight (like large underground caves). It's unclear what's stranger, the fact someone thought of such a tactic, or that it appears to be working.
