BORING STILL LIFE AHOY!Yeah, this was one of the more recent projects in my Drawing II class. We were basically supposed to make a pastel drawing of one of the many still life models set up around the classroom. The thing is, I've already finished mine, and there's still a couple of weeks left to work on this project. I'm kind of worried that I won't have anything to do in the next couple of class sessions. :I
This was my first time working with pastels, and I must say I'm pretty pleased with the result.
Please excuse the crappy photo quality as usual; I'm still balls-terrible at taking photos of my shit.

I feel for you. Still lifes are so tedious to make. Especially when you can't use color and still have to make good value differences.

Personally, I actually like to focus on value just because I think it helps to define the form a little better than color alone, but I can see why focusing JUST on value would be unappealing to some people. The only thing I really dislike about drawing still life models is that they're so hard to relate to, whereas with drawings of animals and people, you can find something to connect with.

Oh I hate when I ramble too. I try not to do it too much. And yes. Black and white is difficult to get full value. Especially when you have three very light colored things in it.
