Description
An old-ish assignment I did for my 2-D design class. The blocky look was intentional (and encouraged by the professor, in fact) which is why I didn’t bother smoothing it out at all.The photo quality is crap, though, so I’m not too happy about that…
Pen on bristol, no sketching beforehand. Referenced off of this photo by =Tigg-stock .

I must say, this is a pretty amazing piece of work, I feel like I'm looking at a photograph from the 1930's, it's pretty realistic~

I drew a grid on the reference photo and transferred it over to a larger sheet of bristol, filling in the squares in a random order. This is also why there are squares everywhere.

Wow, the blockiness makes it look like a soft rug XD Very soft and pleasing to look at. I get a sense of "comfort" looking at this picture

I love this, and I think you pulled it off wonderfully. The photo ranges nicely from deep darks to brilliant highlights (which is something I have always struggled with and admire). The shading is believable, and the texture is really nice.
