You got some serious skills! you should definitely keep going if this is a drawing from being rusty... your lines are really crisp and the colouring is flawless, though i wonder if you have ever tried a blending stump, or paper rolled up tight for a fine tip? you can blend the colours, or fill in all the pits in the paper, and if you do it right you can still go over the top to intensify the colour, its worth experimenting either way as all pencils and papers react differently to each other

I actually tried using a paper towel rolled up as you described, but the paper texture is really rough. I might need to invest in a smoother stock next time. π

A normal piece of printer or scrap paper will do the job, it just needs to be wound up really tight, pretend to roll a joint, but make the roach impossibly tight, rigid with a fine tip, i think maybe paper towels arent strong enough to keep a nice tip, other than that id advise investing in a blending stump, they are basically paper wound up anyway so they should be cheap?
They key is pressure, for longevity of the stump and ability to move around the pigment, its a slow and almost delicate technique, then theres another technique called burnishing, but personally i dont like it, its where you press down so hard that it flattens the paper completely and leaves a shiny finish, you keep your pencils sharp always, generally with a sharp pencil you can fill in gaps too, but it literally destroys paper, i think your colouring is really nice as it is, would be nice to see you do it on a more complex image, how many colours do you have?

Thanks for the advice! I just find it hard to find many groups to submit to sense most of my art is fandom related

Caterpie is one of my favourite pokemon, I drew one myself a long time ago. I really do hope you do a digital copy, you captured it's inocent personality so well.
