Description
Hestia is the goddess of the hearth, home, and domestic life. She is the eldest child of the Titans Khronus and Rhea. Hestia is a pacifist and the great Titanomachy, which saw the she and her siblings fight their father, devastated her. When the war ended, Poseidon and Hades fought each other for Hestia's hand in marriage. Hurt and outraged by the family yet again quarreling, Hestia swore of love and physical intimacy. She would be the first of three virgin goddesses and chose to devote her time to caring for the holy fires of Olympus. She is the only diety among the Olympians who does not get involved in the affairs of both Olympus and mortals. The Romans would adopt her into their Pantheon as Vesta.
