Description Harmonia daughter of Ares and Aphrodite. She found her strength in the balance of love and war and helped stop her brothers from terrorizing humanity.

edit: Adjusted the background, fixed the tunic,

I don't really want to put this under original characters, but there is no category for mythology, or suitable one under fantasy

any CC at this stage is greatly appreciated. However, I classify this as finished so most likely I will apply your advice for future projects

This is beautiful! I absolutely love the colors. She looks gorgeous. I also love this because I love Greek mythology and my name is Harmony, so it all works out, lol.

Amazing work. Keep it up!

I like this picture alot... If I saw her on the street, I would ask her to marry me, no introductions, just proposal. Any woman who can pull off that outfit, with little wingy shoes that well, deserves a proposal.

I see what everyone is talking about. The foreground not matching the background. There seems to be two major problems that I noticed. one is Your light source seems to be comming from direct noon, but the rock only has two small shadows. It should have larger shadows.

Second, There is no middle ground to tie the fore, and back ground together. It said this is digital art, so what I would do is put the rock she is standing on, on a seperate layer, and pay as much attention to detail to it as you did her... with both lines, and color... This will also give you a chance to add shading.

The smaller rock behind it can be a bit more blury since it is behind the rock, but it should still have an outline, and some detail, so it should also be on its own layer.

Then the back ground, should stay pretty much the way it is. kind of blury and wavy, almost like a heat marage.

Thanks for the info about hermaphrodite, I've been trying to figure out where that name came from for a long time.

Sorry I waited so long to reply. I wanted to write a long response, but I got kept away from the computer. and didn't want to appear rude with a short response .

You bring up a lot of good points, there is a lot I need to fix about this picture. Probably going to have use photo references from now on when it comes to backgrounds. Thanks so much

Backgrounds are very tough. Remember where your focal point is. Many Artists use a photo refrence for the background, to get more detail, (and I'm the worst at this, but end up putting so much detail in the background people lose sight of where the eye is SUPPOSED to go first.

You did a really nice job with all the pretty shiny bits!
The only real critique I can offer is that she doesn't seem grounded to her rock platform, maybe bring out the rock more? More of a shadow? I'm not really sure how I'd fix it.

I have the problem all the time, my characters never seem to interact with their environments. I will keep that in mind for future projects. Thank you so much for the critique

OUTER GLOW!

See how you did the wings on the feets? Do that with the dress, I think it would look really nice. o_o

Good job with the shading!

like a wing pattern? I have no idea what your talking about oo

Saintbirdy In reply to chronicdoodler [2009-01-02 17:21:08 +0000 UTC]

Not a pattern, the outline - iz yellow. Make the dress use yellow lines instead of black.

The background looks separate from the the chick. She's line art, and the background's like a painting. They both look nice alone...

Iz not unified.

It my head, you could add black lines to the background, making it look more like an illustration to match harmo, or you can loose the line art on her.

You gets my beef?

You know I critique to make this the best it can be, not to rag on you or anything.

You also can be like stfu, I like it my way. @,@ *huggles* YOU'S MUH FWIEHND!

I look forward to seeing the complete version. So far as Nero said the foot is the only problem with the pic so far and I love the detail you did on the swan design along with the symbols on the shoulder plates. I remember you also did this character or one similar for one of your gaia page themes back in the days. I hope you have a good New Years with your family. ^^

chronicdoodler In reply to Theoutbound [2008-12-30 08:06:46 +0000 UTC]

If I made it up I would have told you I did. I have several books and some books mention her and some don't. She is only really noted for being the offspring of Ares and Aphrodite and marrying King Cadmus, also her necklace is cursed. So one can understand why some publishers will omit a bit Goddess like herself.

As for hermes and Aphrodite I thought that was a fairly common story :/

He is. But Aphrodite and Ares did have an affair that produced three children, and Hephaestus eventually wove a special net and caught them in their infidelity.
