Mordred was supposed to be the son of both Morgan and her half-brother, King Arthur.

I've always wondered. Do you think that, even knowing that Arther and her were blood relatives, she took some perverse pleasure in sleeping with him? If only because she knew it would come back to bite him later.

In truth, the two didn’t realize they were related. Arthur's birth name wasn't Arthur and they were separated at a young age. They wouldn't have recognized each other when they met again. Also the idea of Morgana as an evil is from a mistranslation my medieval authors. Writers often mixed up Morgana with her aunt Morgause. She plotted to destroy Arthur and take his kingdom for her sons. The close spellings of their names have merged the two figures together resulting in an evil Morgana. In original mythology, Morgana loved her brother and was a mystic healer. Morgause was out to destroy him. Sorry for the epic nerdy explanation. xD

No problem, I'm always fascinated by history/mythology like that.
