Description This was done as page one of a two-page submission I did for (shameless plug here) Proverbs and Parables, a collection of comic adaptations of scripture done by Christian professional and non-professional comic artists. The original is not in color; I decided to add color to it on the computer using Corel Draw (hence, its inclusion in the Digital Art/Vector Art section). If it is inappropriate in this section, I shall move it, but Corel Draw does work in vectors to color, so.....

I was obviously going for a Mucha mood, especially when I did it in color. He seemed to favor these colors in his prints.

Kathleen,  I would  like to be able to use these pictures in a sermon powerpoint to liven up the presentation.   May I  have your permission? Pastor Mark Parsons

Can I use these pictures in a PowerPoint in a sermon I am using Sunday. I am a pastor, and would love to be  able to use these pictures to liven up the sermon.  How can I do this?

I really like how you portrayed all sorts of different ages, cultures, and ethnicity in this series. Truly remarkable work.

These are wonderful, Kat. And executed with your usual eye for beauty, and perfection. I love Proverbs.

I love how you've depicted women of all ages, races, and types. The illustrations match the words perfectly, and, while I feel quite lazy in comparison to the woman Proverbs 31 talks about, thanks for reminding me of this wonderful verse.

Thank you!

When I was originally asked to do this piece, I was sent samples of other work that were slated for the book. Although the work was well done, a lot of it was...I'm not sure how to put it--I guess more dark, of a masculine feel. Most of the artists who were tapped were guys, and their drawings represented traditional American comic books. After seeing this, I thought it would be good to go for a lighter, feminine look. I also thought it would work best if I did use a variety of women, to keep it from looking too static. It was fun deciding how to dress them and pose them.

This is a wonderful section of scripture, and I know I've got to keep working at it myself to live up to its ideals.

Thank you for 'riting it!

Dearest Meezer,
I am woefully ashamed that I have not commented on your work sooner.
Please forgive me. You are so good, and I didn't even realize. I am very impressed by your range my friend!
These images are all so well thought out, both background and the poses/attitudes of the foreground figures. I am very impressed Meezer.
Incidentally, the lady who is bottom middle 'girding' is quite a muscular lassie! Isn't there is a proverb that mentions that a strong woman is needed when men need breaking in two? Just kidding.
P.s. I am a snowshoe lover, among other kitties. I like how they are the 'robust cousin' of siamese.

Why, thank you, Nat, for your kind observations on my art! You are forgiven for not taking a look sooner. I don't always remember to check out the work of those who've commented on mine.

I consider myself a cartoonist primarily, so I definitely don't see myself as a fine artist. Also, I have very little training--I'm primarily self-taught. Couldn't find anyone in my area teaching the kind of art I wanted to learn, and the ones who were teaching art around here were kind of...well...flaky. The limited computer training I've had has mostly come from my husband, bless his heart, when he has the time.

The muscular lady is supposed to represent a Polynesian woman. We have a number of Hawaiians and Samoans living in my area. The Samoans are rather large people, although the women are beautiful. They make me think of amazons.

I'll have to see if I can find that Proverb!

I told my husband your comment about snowshoes--"robust cousins." He liked that. I've heard that the legend regarding Siamese is that they were the offspring of a monkey and a lion . That's true about Gus, our snowshoe, who seems to be more monkey than anything else.

Again, thanks, Nat, for those nice comments! Made my evening!

I think this is great. The subject is one that we see all too little of, and the style is very appealing.

Thank you! Boy, that's three votes for "more like it." Gotta get off the duff and get to it, I guess, now that my computer's working again.

Thank you! This one gets favored a lot, along with its companion piece. I really ought to try more like it, when I get the chance.

Thanks! I'm a siamese fan (hence my username--"meezer"--siamese--mese--meez--meezer) . We have three of them (well, one is a snowshoe, but that's just a meezer wearing socks with milk on its chin). So I just had to add a meezer to the pic.

I love cats in general. They're so sweet.

Thank you so much! I've been busy lately so haven't had time to work on anything, but hope to get back into it in April. Am planning on working on more things like this if possible.

Glad you enjoy it!
