· Their fangs drain the life energy out of their victim’s body, leaving a shriveled-up corpse.
· They cannot speak in any known language outside of a few chirps and hisses. Leading most Xeno-biologists to believe that most of their communication is through pheromones and body language.
· They have several spinnerets located on their front legs, and their thorax to allow them to fire their webs forward for defence and attack. They use their larger spinneret located on their backside for spinning large webs. Building their webs, and wrapping up their prey.
· Female are larger than males.
· Due to their size females tend of be stronger than the males, but the males tend to have a greater agility and jumping ability compared to the females.
· Females lay egg sacks which can hold up to 100 eggs in them.
· They have eight legs.
Culture:
They have a very basic and hostile culture. They will try to consume any type of lifeform, sapient or not. They are even known to feed on each other in acts of cannibalism. This has caused the males to avoid the female, unless they have a food offering to present to the female. The only time males are ever seen with the females is during their species’ mating season. The males will leave the females shortly after the deed is done as to avoid getting eaten by the females. The females are very protective of their egg sacks, and have been known to go to great lengths to keep them safe. Unfortunately, after the eggs hatch the mother tend to eat the hatch-lings. As such this species have almost zero parental or bonding instincts. They do find dancing to be attractive though.
They have a great love for trickery, and will use it in any form if it helps them get their next meal. For them food is one of the most important aspects of life. As such they will often decorate their environment with the bones and husks of their victims to show how successful they are. They are hunters first and foremost, and as such have very strong predatory instincts.
While they have no need for any material items, at this point in time, they do know that other species love to collect these meaningless trinkets. So, to help lure in potential prey, Arachnids will place any shiny looking objects, from their past meals, in their webs or other traps to bait any passerby’s.
Technology:
They only use the most basic of tools, and their own webs to form elaborate traps, shelters, and webs. They lack any kind of space travel, which most are thankful for, but they have been known to sneak aboard visiting ships to get off world. They make use of various net and pit traps.
