Description le 13 julliet 2008
Done in permanent marker (fine and ultrafine point).

Every time a new season of Project Runway starts up I get the strongest urge to play designer. I probably shouldn't be encouraged at this, but it's only for fun anyway.

The theme of my "collection" is the modernization of fairy tale/nursery rhyme characters. In the end, there should be twelve of them (or twenty-four, if you count both the evening and casual looks on each page). Suggestions for characters to update are both welcomed and encouraged!

This time, it's Rapunzel (as suggested by ~inukaglove ; thanks, man ^^ ). The season I had in mind was summer -- note the light colors and lack of sleeves -- and I wanted to do some sort of weaving pattern that didn't involve making a sweater (I figured it would compliment her hair). Anyway, I rather like how it turned out, particularly in the top of the gown. The more casual style is meant to be a simple wrap dress with a short spandex suit underneath.

Other designs in this collection (listed in order of submission):

Little Bo Peep
Little Red Riding Hood
The Little Mermaid
Goldilocks and the Three Bears
Mary, Mary Quite Contrary

Changed the category. Hope this one fits better...

Wow, another amazing one. I like how you are able to incoperate the Hair into the design of the dress. Is it the real hair or just the dress? Either way it looks fantastic and the back off the dress is just as nice.

It was hard to figure out how to do that, but I figured that if I didn't include the braid somehow the entire point of the story would be absent. Sure, you can always put a model in it with long hair, but what about when she takes it off? No one would be able to tell what story the design was based on. I puzzled over it for awhile, but I think I made the right decision as placement.

I had so much fun designing the top

Great colors and design. For some reason those dresses remind me of the clothes that Acient Greece noble women wore

Yeah, I kind of had that in mind, too. Greece/Rome, that is. Still, my primary motivation was the braid and how to weave the fabric in an interesting way.
