Every time a new season of Project Runway starts up I get the strongest urge to play designer. I probably shouldn't be encouraged at this, but it's only for fun anyway.

The theme of my "collection" is the modernization of fairy tale/nursery rhyme characters. In the end, there should be twelve of them (or twenty-four, if you count both the evening and casual looks on each page). Suggestions for characters to update are both welcomed and encouraged!

This time, it's The Little Mermaid. There wasn't a specific season in mind this time, but the sea (ie, the colors and pearl accessories) was my primary muse so I suppose you can attribute this look to summer (it's sleeveless and everything). Add in a touch of Disney magic (ie, the red hair; I was feeling nostalgic ^^ ) and you've got this design. As for the wavy fabric, I got the idea to use it from this dress (and another one a lot like it). Yes, it was one of the designs featured on Project Runway. Specifically, it was one of Santino's (Season 2) from his Fashion Week collection. I think this is my favorite design so far, but probably only b/c the colors strike me.
