Inspired by the final level of Ace Combat 04, beautiful music: [link]This is a minimal version... It's not as awesome as I want it to be. After having left this for over a year, it's clear I'm not going to finish it without substantial further inspiration. I think it looks beautiful and simple as it is already. Finishing it might just add too much chaos.

I loved this game. I didnt know how to beat this level because i had not played any previous AC games, so i didn't know to fly INSIDE it. Someone should make an Ace Combat/ Metal Gear crossover. It would be so EPIC. Their themes together would create a masterpiece.

This mission is my favorite mission of all Ace Combat PS2 series, the second would be The Gauntlet.
It's so fun beating this mission with the F-15C or F-16.

Agreed with some others, this could really have used some more detail. For what its worth, even this picture is a little too minimalistic.
That's not to say this isn't brilliant. I love this picture... it really captures the mood of the mission and the pilots flying through it (you know, if we weren't players enjoying an epic dogfight, tunnel flight, and amazing music all at once... XD).

Yeah... I might go back and revamp this pic to be more detailed. I'm beginning to agree with everyone. And, you know, basic things like cleaning up the edges of the airplane. I wasn't too good at drawing mechanical things at this point, but I've had a lot of practice since then. Thanks for the critique!

Hey this is pretty cool! It would have been a bit better with Megalith in the background with a few lasers shooting upwards, but apart from that I can't flaw it. It looks great!
I really hope to see a more 'final' version of this some time soon.

Yeah, there was a whole bunch of stuff I was going to add to it... but in the end, I preferred this version because of the simplicity. I guess I can go back and rework this pic at some point. It's been a few years, and hopefully I've improved since then!

I assumed it was new because it popped-up into my inbox via the Ace Combat Fan Club yesterday.
It's awesome as it is, the atmosphere -though simple- is so heavy (I can only wish to put as much atmosphere into a picture as you can) but it'd be cool to see you revisit this piece one day. No pressure though!

I always appreciate a good critique, no matter the time frame
The atmosphere was really fun to do with this, I was mostly just playing around with some cloud brushes I had just gotten, and suddenly it turned out really great. It's one of those pictures you look back and think "How did I do that?"

The most epic battle of the whole Ace Combat series.
The duel at the end of Ace Combat Zero is a close second.
Assault Horizon seems to lack the epicness to it's battles that the previous games had.

Hmm. Yeah, I liked AC04 the best, though you're right, Zero is close. I really liked the dogfight music for Zero even though the end level wasn't that epic.
