when you use someone else's work, you should credit them appropriately rather than simply using their images to redirect to your own blog. i don't find what you've done particularly bothersome, but proper credit is regarded as basic decency among artists, and failure to do so is frequently perceived as "art theft" and may offend people.
as to the creature, i've seen sphynxes and 'taur type creatures before. i'm not you, so she has no meaning to me, spiritually speaking. to be honest, i tend to avoid expressions of spirituality in my own art. i play with visual themes, but they're purely superficial and not intended as any sort of expression past that.
i'm glad you seem to enjoy expressing yourself that way though. just be more careful to properly credit the artists you borrow from in the future.

Right. I credited you right below the post :

I must say I didn't use it to create art, since the collage is anything but art and I only needed it for myself ( publishing it was a must because I wanted to keep it , and polyvore doesn't allow one to export images which are not posted-visible )
Now I expected you reaction somehow and I wrote you because I wanted to know : what about people who can't draw , but need to use DA images for personal, not artistic purposes ? How to ?
I've also seen sphinxes before, but couldn't find exactly what was I looking for, hence the collage.
I am really shocked to learn the character has no meaning to you. It's probably a secret meaning you would not share, right ?

it may only be for yourself, but, it is art, and it's in a public sphere, so due credit is the right thing to do. being personal doesn't make it NOT art, nor does the fact that it is collage. collage has been respected as an artform for a long time now. i'm sort of amused that you insist it's not art--your work actually strongly reminds me of a documentary i once watched on outsider art. it focused on a man whose name suddenly escapes me, but he used to create these elaborate collages that told a story he had been making up for 30 years and never shared. they only discovered his work after he'd died, and people came to empty his apartment.
the creature you created has no meaning to me, no. because i'm not you. that's like saying i should know or attach some significance to a stranger passing on the street. i couldn't, i don't know that person. you do, so you would, but to me she's just a stranger even if she resembles someone i know.
the character i drew was, again, an extension of playing with visual themes. in this case, the sun and moon and the passage of time. sometimes i work out a thought process using art. lots of artists do--there was an exhibit of picasso's early sketchbooks that came through my city not long ago, and you could see in his sketches how he was working out just how he thought his abstractions should look, with each sketch pushing it just a little farther.
when we have verbal thoughts we want to remember, we write them down. when we're working through visual thoughts to some conclusion, they need recording too. i drew this in college, after my first exposure to mike mignola, and probably while listening to a teacher's lecture. there's some obvious influences from hindu culture (i still have a fascination with kali) and some more east asian (the rabbit as the moon's halo). it's visually interesting, but it's the half-formed regurgitation of a student mimicking what she sees around her. it's an unfinished idea that i'm actually still working through in other ways.
btw, have you tried GIMP? i've never tried polyvore, but i suspect you would find that GIMP would give you more sophisticated control over your collages. you could still publish them publicly, but you'd be able to do more with them.

Good reply and good advice.
Aside of the hindu influence, I also detected a meso-american (native) one, which is why i liked it so much.
I'll keep of exploring ways of creating art in a respectful way for the artists.
You are talented, hope you will achieve all your artistic goals.

This is so unique and emotive. Is the woman meant to be like, the "spirit" of the rabbit, what with the third eye?? I love the eyes, the hair, the arms, the breasts, the lips....IT's so nice to look at... nicely done.

Wow! What an incredibly stunning picture! I am absolutely blown away. Your line work is exceptional and I really love your choice of colors. They work well together-- it has like an ancient scroll kind of feel. I love the expression on the woman's face and the line of her body. This... this is really beyond words. ^_^

Wow! I couldn't tell you if I'm most mesmerized by the awesome coloring and color choices (the eyes are very lovely), the linework (from the hair to the tattoos to the wax on the candles to the breasts, etcetera), the composition (the ADORE the little kid and candle and rabbit), or the way it seems like there is some heavy symbolism/story going on here, but even if the viewer doesn't know it (like myself) the picture is still very striking and beautiful.
