It'd be great to see the Eranshahr script return too:

very beatiful peace of work , but i still prefer a flag, which contains both iranian and islamic features, because there are still many successful iranians, who really love their country and at the sme time they identify themselves as muslim, religion supposes to bring people together, not divide them !

true but

first, a country's flag should never be a religious symbol that's disrespect to people that don't belive in islam or god have different belief(well the one that haven't been killed yet) Like me, I'm not Muslim

second, that symbol is Arabic there is nothing Persian about this flag

Third, that flag with every thing on it is dictatorial symbols now

long story short I hate that flag

i respect your opinion, but i didn't mean exact the flag of islamic republic, but any flag containing also islamic symbols. scandinavian countries are counted among countries with the highest number of atheists, despite that they all use nordic cross on their flags, which represents christianity, no one remonstrate against it, because christianity is an important part of their history despite of grievounesses or many cruel deeds applied by some churches or religious people.

if we consider symbols as disrespectful to ethnical/religious groups, then we should maybe use no symbol on the flags .

cheers

what you say is true

like Saudi Arabia have they're holy words and the sword and whatever be course Islam was a big thing for they're country

but what about Iran? I studied Iran existence from the very beginning and (sorry to say that no disrespect to Islam)  Islam only made bad thing happen to Iran

the Arabs attacked Iran in the name of Islam killing people and children raping the woman forcing people to Islam and the once who say No DEAD all in the name of this god they lie about. this and the Islamic republic is only a few of them, honestly I think religion is the worse thing that happened to this world because people don't have the aspects to understand and use it for good they only use it for they're own benefit.

this is my opinion and I respect your.

I agree with Mehran, Islam was bad for Iran.  BUT... Iran was very good for Islam, think about it: The Persian influence on Islam made the religion prosper, the (in my opinion) beautifull calligraphy that we see today in mosques and on artifacts comes all from Iran. yes, the language may be arabic but the style of writing was introduced by iranian artist.
the bad, cruel and barbaric things that are going on in Iran are not the fault of Islam, but of the evil and twisted people who use it for power, wealth and controll. people like the Ayatollah are the monsters that use the name of God for nothing but killing, they constantly invoke the Quran to justify what they're doing.
But not all muslims are like that, there are many good muslims who hate the Mollah and want freedom back in iran. and no... I am not a muslim, I'm a Christian, but i still love Islam. I'm half-Iranian and I will always pray to God that one day Iran will be free again and that your flag will be raised, i think it's beautifull.
I fully understand and respect your opinion, Mehran. if I'm wrong, my excuses.
