This actually took me FOREVER. UGH. I dunno. Probably because I try too hard when it comes to Altaire and his ethereal beauty or something (maybe his hair and feather wings are just hard to draw lol).. and THEN I kept going back to subtly correct some shading and anatomy peeves -- THERE IS STILL STUFF WRONG BUT I GIVE UP NOW. >___> Around 10+ hours. *barf*

So here he is in Season 2, being like.. 20 years old or something and looking mighty fine! He's holding onto his hat, in case you can't tell One sleeve he wears on his right arm to cover up all his scars, but the one on his left is purely for fashion/balance. lol The wings on his back are feathered as he tries to learn transformation techniques from his mother, but they are on the small size and not very useful. BUT THEY LOOK CUTE?? lol Overall just a stylish guy!

As an incubus, Altaire also has a demon form that he transforms/break out into as his mana levels are very, very low. Unfortunately, this happens occasionally as Altaire is not great at keeping his supplies high (he has ethical/moral objections to obtaining the energy through human souls--but his biology demands it, so he's unable to reconcile this conflict). It's much better if he avoids breaking into demon form though, because in this form, he's dangerously uninhibited and will target almost anyone. His demon form looks a bit like a dragon, and looks a bit like a goat, right? XD

Altaire's troubles with accepting his own existence continue into season 2 and beyond, and although he and Ezra decide to try at the relationship thing again, it's both passionate and tumultuous as Altaire continues struggling with his own self-worth and ideologies surrounding love and faithfulness being in conflict with his biological needs and emotional instability. On the positive side, he works around a lot of consent issues by using contracts for fulfilling services in exchange for people's souls and has developed his magical abilities. Turns out he's well-attuned for mana channelling and spell-casting! Too bad he never has enough energy to go all out. >_>

I really like Altaire, and for better or worse, he may be the most realistic portrayal of chronic depression and fragility of self-worth that I have in a character. His moral conflicts and struggles with merely existing really intrigues and musters up just so much sympathy from me. I just loaded him with tragedy but also such deep need for love and to be able to love others, and I think the main thesis of his character is that life may be a struggle forever, but there is still worth and joy to be had. So I think he became a really important character to me despite that he was originally recycled from the trash bin of deleted characters because I needed a blank character to exploit! >__>
