Sooo this is my first speed paint. I really admire speed painters. Being able to capture light, shadows and contrasting so fast. Besides all that, their ability to apply textures, texture brushes and custom brushes is also amazing to me.I really want to work on it, get better, faster and whatnot.
So here is my attempt....
He's kind of squished and his gun is stunted >-> Twas based off a screen shot. DEYAAMM I love GOW, its just gorgeous. The texture, contrasting, design, movement, backgrounds...EVERYTHING. (worth unleashing the caps fury)

Anyways, besides crushed Marcus and stunty gun, Id love some critique on my technique. Speed painting confuses me, so any advice would be appreciated.

My roommate loves Carmine too, I just didn't get it. Marcus=YES PLEASE. But I do like the glowly helmet and armor bits, would look wicked in a really dark picture.

I love how he's shaded darker then everything else. It makes him really stand out and gives that "loner" feel that defines Marcus

Oh my god yes, countless times. Like the unhealthy obsession I have; I've highlighted all the parts I felt were important, underlined words I didn't know, and wrote a summary of gears 3 possibilities on the last couple spare pages in the back of the book.

I lol'd. Its rare to find other girls into gears, its the most testosteronni game I've ever seen. I adore the games, they are just gorgeous...the backgrounds and texture work...omnomnom nom.
The designs are really unique and fantastic, although they kinda seem like rehashed military versions of the character designs in unreal tournament. Specially Dom. I can't wait for the next game...aw man. If 2 looked as amazing as it did...what the heck are they gonna do with 3? I'm hoping for more nakkie fenix shots mwhhahaa.

also i think some parts of the background could be a little darker to make them seem further back - mainly the raggedy stuff in the top left

the scariest thing about speed painters is that they never go back and fix everything - it's just like...everything lines up the first time.
