Heyo. Well first off, what kind of things do you know? Do you know how to set up your lineart to "color under the lines'?
Speedpaints like the one I did dont usually even have lineart, I generally just use one layer unless I'm adding adjustment layers, textures or trying something new.

For speedpaints I usually flood the background with a random color (orange, blue/grey) Whatever suits the mood of the picture you are planning on doing. Then I make a new layer (call it concept...or...whatever) And then start blobbing a basic concept down. Using a more solid brush opacity. Dont be scared of solids, its how you get the blocky light in speedpaints. Mind you, I'm not very good at speedpaints, I'm trying, learning.
Use gradients. Selecting areas with the lasso tool (on the triangle looking option, i forget what its called, but you click here and there to make a lasso shape) Then set the gradient (click on the paintbucket tool till it shows up) to the faded out setting ( color on one side clear on the other) I find this works well to get your initial idea down. Basic shades and whatnot.

Also, do you have a graphics tablet? If you want to get into digital art it really is a must. I would recommend a graphire 3 or 4 in a 6x8 size. I use a intuous 4 tablet in a 6x8 size. Dont let anyone talk you into getting the large size, its just crap. Carpel tunnel waiting to happen. And the small is too restricting.
Anyways, graphire is good, its what I started with. Its cheaper than the intuous too.
This will help you a lot!

Custom PS brushes are the way to go in both illustration types and speedpaints.
heres a great set [link]
You can find out how to do that on the web [link] heres one example.

Heres a guide to some of the tools in ps [link]

Hmmm. Textures, they can MAKE a picture. [link] This is a full texture, you can also place pieces using the lasso/selection tool.
Once your texture is set try playing with the layer effects and opacity of the layer.

Other then that I'd really have to know what kind of art your going for. What you know and if you have a tablet.

If its speedpaints watch some speedpaint videos on youtube.com it helps. Try using lots of gradients and SOLIDS. Big mistake I see in first time speedpaints is not enough solids (solid brush opacity 80-100%)

Good luck, and dont be shy to ask. Not all artists will lend advice but its always worth a shot. I too have asked many artists for advice on DA.

thank you alot for all this advice, and im basically a beginner, i know how to liek layer and thing like that and basically work onto a picture/photograph, but what is line art :$ and colour under thelines? thanks alot for recommending a tablet, i was really sonfused on which one to start out with , i didnt know if i should go for the more expensive option, because u pay for what u get , or start out small and work up . im new to this speed painting and no absolutely nothing, so this advice is golden to me, i cant thank you enuff, and for the links on different brushes i hope u dont mind if i ask you Q's in the near future ? if you do thanks for this advice

Ask away hun.

Honestly the cheaper tablets are crap, I keep hearing terrible things about them, they seem to have a short life span.
Graphire 3 was really good for me, its probably mid grade. Its not a cheapy and not a big hitter like intuous. I liked it. Once you sharpen your skills then you might wanna look into an intuous. But the Graphire should last you a few years.

Line art is your lines/inks/pencils. Its uncolored. Just lines. People often ask me how you can color under the lines, or how to not cover up the lines when your trying to add color. Just look it up on google "how to set up a picture on PS" "how to color under lineart" "scanning and cleaning lines in PS" Theres a lot of tutorials on DA as well. Some really good stuff, so look around. Also, check youtube, actually watching someone do it helps ALOT.
Good luck

Once you reply the message is removed. If you wanna find it just go back to my picture. When you do find it just copy it and paste it into a text document.

inspired by your recent love of Halo~?
anyhow, the great thing about speeds is that they have this rawness about them, which can capture the feel of a moment better than if rendered.
