I love this. I might have said so before. I just have one curious mind-boggling question...what is the swirly bit cupped in her right hand? Is it hair or a shadow? Inquiring colourist -me- need to know.

I'm doing a research on victorian environment, and I had the funny thought that I should look around at deviantart, see if I can get some inspiration. As it turns out, according to deviantart, everyone in victorian London was either a super sexy and underdressed vampire babe or Oscar Wilde.

Now if you have some free time, could you please tell me how is your picture processed on the computer? (I mean, you draw on paper, ink it with whatever, scan it in grayscale, and?..)

I draw it traditionally and ink with a sakura brand pigment liner 005, or a staedtler pigment liner. Also been playing with quill and ink.
I scan at 400 dpi colored picture and generally fix the contrasting with the Image-adjustment-levels. Make sure not to set the lines too black or the edges get a bit choppy.
I'll sometimes clean up the lines a bit at that point with the hard edge brush and eraser. Nothing too special.
If you'd like your lines a bit smoother you can try duplicating the layer with your lines, then add a gaussian blur around 3-4. Now go back to the layers and change the layer properties( effects?) to either hard light or multiply and play around with the opacity till you are satisfied. Dunno if I explained this clearly, if you have any other questions lemme know.

Wow! I like the art style you used for this one! I'm very impressed with it!! Kind of reminds me a little of the art style of Jeff Scott Campbell, which I really like. It's by far one of the best ones you've done! Keep up the awesome work!!
