_______________________________________________________

The four adventurers took a corridor leading deeper in the cave. Romatzo and Marina, both wearing the more protective armors, were opening and closing the march in the narrow passage way. After Romatzo, there was Delphine, lighting the long and dark corridor with her staff.
The more the group progressed in it, the more an oppressing feeling took place inside them. This feeling continued to grow after each steps, until they finally reach the end of the passage. Fire lights could be seen further, seaming to indicate a larger room. But their bodies refused to move to enter in it. Forcing themself to move, they were greeted in the room by a deep and despicable voice.

" When I stopped hearing the sound of the fights, I thought the intruders were dead. But now here you are. Interesting."

The red-skinned demon sitting on its massive stone throne was smiling. Its appearance was frightening. At least twice the height of Marina and three time her width around the shoulders. Huge wings and a thick tail were coming from its back. Its head sported two long horns, curved backward. Its mouth was filled with sharp teeth and its glowing yellow eyes were cruel and full of a malicious intelligence.
But the real disturbing thing was not the creature's appearance itself, but the aura it emitted. A despicable mix of hate, terror, despair and death.
It was not the first demon that Romatzo, Delphine, Minalva and Marina encountered, but the sensation coming from this one was so much worst. Like if just by being near to it could drain their life.

" Gornhoth?!" let out Delphine in a terrorised whisper.

The demon, like if it heard her, started to laugh. A horrible laugh that froze their blood.

" No. I'm not Lord Gornhoth, little human. its voice was no less unbearable than its laughter. If I was him, you, poor and weak mortals would be dead just by being in my mere presence. Though if you are too weak the same could happen with me too. he boasted in a chuckle. No, my name is Ulharrl."

No human nor any tongues of the world could have transcribed nor pronounced the horrid sound of the name of the demon. The four were petrified and they felt that the demon was telling the truth. If they had been weaker physically or mentally they would have died. It observed them for a moment.

" I recognise your smells. You are those who stole the Egg of Gornhoth to my master. You took advantage of our absence to steal it." its massive hands pressed harder the sculpted skulls of the arms of its stone throne that cracked a little under the pressure. " And you managed to survived to the assaults of the demons that my master have sent you. As well as the shadow of Lord Gornhoth."

To this last revelation Delphine almost fainted. The giant demon they had encountered was Gornhoth itself?! The mere idea that the seal on the Egg was weak enough to be able to release a part of Gornhorth, so little it was, was terrifying for her to hear.

" I don't know how you broke the tracking spell that was on you, but I'm happy you came back. It'll spare me the time to hunt you down to kill you." his tail whipped the air.

After each word, the despair was plunging its claws deeper in the heart of the adventurers, draining them from their energy. But one of them seemed to be less affected by it.

  " THAT'S ENOUGH!" yelled Romatzo.

His shout broke the state of dejection that weighed on his friends.

" You are not the real threat here. said Romatzo pointing the demon with his axe. Your master is our main goal. We won't lose our time and our energy by all staying here to fight you. he looked at his friends who were still a little dazed and added. I'll hold him back while you'll go find its master."
  - But... started to say Delphine.
  - No but! GO!
  - I... I stay with you. tried also to add Minalva.
  - NO! I'm sure you won't be too much than three to kill the master of this creature." his tone was not allowing her to argue.

Ulharrl seamed amused by that.

" And I thought dwarves were stupid. But maybe that is indeed the case. Your stupidity not allowing you to be afraid by me. But you are right. My master's powers are a lot greater than mine. he took a brief pause. Although physically, I am the strongest. he smiled, observing the dwarf. I'll let your friends go join my master. The path beside my throne will lead them directly to him. When I will have killed you, I'll bring them your corpse. I can not wait to see the despair on their face when they will see it." a terrible laughter raised from its mouth.

Romatzo did not let the girls try to argue any more. He indicated them to leave with his head, already concentrated for the upcoming battle.
The girls split and slowly skirted around the throne from each side, keeping an eye on Ulharrl all along. The demon followed the girls with its eyes too, making its tail whipping the air.
When they got finally out of reach, the three friends rushed in the dark entrance in front of them. Minalva gave a last worried look toward Romatzo. She felt guilty to let the dwarf she loved facing alone the creature, but, even if it was hard to her to admit it, she was relieved to leave. The most traumatising experience of her life had been their first encounter with the demons and the scar in her mind was still very fresh.

After the three had left, Ulharrl turned its head to face Romatzo. What he saw made it raised an eyebrow.

" Why do you smile dwarf?" asked the demon.
  - I dreamed all my life for a fight like this one. he said reinforcing his grip on his magical axe. And if I have to die today, I'll die satisfied."

The demon, standing up from its throne, smiled too. It was starting to think too that this fight could be interesting. They observed each others for a moment, then they both charged.

Ton maître est notre but principal.

Thank you for watching and reading, hope you enjoyed it.

It's a coincidence, but it's the second time that Romatzo breaks the state of despair provoked by a demon (the first time being in "Deus Ex Delphina"). So I think that it will become a trait of the Mountain Dwarves to be able to resist more to the demons' aura.

For Ulharrl and its throne too actually, I acquired them few months ago for free at Daz.com (they were free for just a day, I believe) and I instantly wanted to use them for the end of this arc. I've created my own textures for Ulharrl, the character being quite old, the originals making 480px.
I haven't spent too much time on it, maybe nothing more than a half hour. But I'm pretty happy with the result.
Some precision on Ulharrl itself. Compared to the simple demons that the team have met in the pictures "Aelva Nish" and "The Outcome", Ulharrl is a "Superior Demon". Superior Demons are stronger and (very) intelligent and their malefic aura is also more influential on mortal. Its simple presence could kill weak people and even babies and small children.

Don't forget to pray for Romatzo. It will the hardest fight of his life and it could be the last one!

Only time will tell us how this fight will end. Let's give our strength to Romatzo and to the girls for their own upcoming fight.

I have started the next scene, so if everything works good, I hope been able to uploaded it in the week. ^^

Another great scene!! \o/

I've always imagined that dwarfs are in fact immune or very resistant to some types of magic and things like that. I hope he survives!

This demon reminded me of the demon from "Legend".  Probably because of his red skin. I don't know what the old texture was like, but the one you made is very good!

Thanks a lot!

And thanks too, to send good vibes to Romatzo.

For the demon, the original texture is good actually, but the resolution is so small that it is very pixelated. (www.daz3d.com/nybras )

And it didn't had Bump, Normal nor Displacement map, so it was better to create my own ones anyway.

I love the demon in Legend, it's the best part of the movie for me (the make up is so gorgeous)!

Actually I have been inspirated by him, there is the red color (although the original is kind of red too), but also the chin of the demon that I have made longer to look like more like the one of Legend.

It's still one of my favorite fantasy films! When I was little, I loved it, but at the same time I was afraid of the Darkness and that swamp witch, Meg.

I think it could be one of my favorite fantasy movie too.

The story is not great (for me anyway), but visualy it's a masterpiece.

I always forget about the swamp witch Meg. It's weird because it's not the kind of character that goes unnoticed. lol

I'd argue wether that was really tactically sound, but let's face it, Romatzo was just itching for a good fight with his new magical outfit. Let's have some fancy dwarven moves now!

About the tactilcal aspect, I have change a little the dialogue of Romatzo.

It's now :We won't lose our strengths and powers by all staying here to fight you.

Instead of :We won't lose our time by all staying here to fight you.

I don't remember why I have wrote "lose time", because I always had in mind the fact that Romatzo didn't wanted his friends to waste their energy on Ulharrl.

Anyway, you have probably right about him also wanting to test how really worth are his new gear and axe.

The next picture will be probably quicker to make, because there will be only Romatzo and Ulharrl in it.

Although, I have in mind a very specific picture inspired by the cover of one of my favorite fantasy comics. So it will maybe be more complicated than what I think...

Romatzo's armor and axe are magic or enhance with magic, I haven't decided exactly.

Anyway, because of that he have its chance in this fight. It will be a tough one nevertheless.
