Description
Mist... swirling down the darkened corridors of my mind
obscuring, confusing all that I seek to find
Mist... clouding thought, choking reason as I lose control
An ebon veil like a spiders web descends upon my soul

Slipping into the tempest of night, an ever darkening dream
where inky tides thrash blackened shores in a never ending scene
Is this then my fate... to spend eternity in darkness and despair
to never smell a rose to feel the suns warmth or breathe the mountain air

Slowly now the darkness fades and mist creeps in again
yet through the mist this time I see the faces of my friends
They call to me to let me know that I am not alone
to show they care they've come to guide me back where I belong

Out of the darkness and into the light
as the emergence of dawn at the threshold of night
With hope and faith we cling to life
though with it's joys there's often strife

So what then is the ultimate gain
What wisdom gleaned from love and pain
Only this can I say I have learned
That what you give is what's returned
