I love Transformers. I love Transformers Animated. I love (from G1) the Insecticons, Ramjet, Octane, Perceptor, Sky Lynx, and....I love Red Alert.

In the beginning of Animated, though, it was originally going to be based on characters from the not-so-great Japanese trilogy of Armada/Energon/Cybertron. At least, it seemed so. Instead of Bumblebee there would be Hot Shot and instead of Ratchet there was going to be a female autobot named Red Alert.

G1 Red was an incredibly paranoid security chief/lamborghini fire chief. It was most likely this Red Alert was going to be based on Armada/Cybertron Red Alert who was a medic. Thanks to (most likely) the 2007 TF movie, this was changed so the characters were homages mainly to G1 instead.

So I drew this as a tribute to a mixture of the two ideas: G1 Red Alert in his awesome deco glory and sexy fembot nurse Red Alert! Fem Alert was destined to happen. I have heard that there are design sketches of a new Animated female Red Alert, but who knows what she'll be like and whether or not she'll actually appear in the show (or if what was said was even true).

Anyways, enjoy! I wanted to echo a nurses outfit with her head design and placement of the white, red and black. She's got a sort of two piece outfit going. Her insignia's black outline, it's really hard to tell, is meant to look like the Fire Chief insignia that Red Alert had. The emblem on her helmet area comes from the medical insignia ratchet has in Animated. Also, her shoulder pads are based on Ratchet's as well. I was going to have her hold some sort of robotic syringe, but that didn't turn out well and figured a nice wave would work out well. I had to add in the arm since if I followed the original reference pose exactly it'd look like I just didn't want to draw the hands. I really didn't want to (they took forever), but it's just something you've got to do.
