#successI saw Brave the other day and- OMG! It was completely incredible. Of course I fell for Angus like a ton of bricks, and needed to draw him! I usually have a difficult time with heavy horse anatomy and give up half way through. It's not perfect, but I'm very proud!
I've always loved Clydesdales ever since I was a little girl when my dad would tell me about the team of Clydes for that beer brand- the name of which i cant spell and am too lazy to look up.
Heres to Angus! The coolest freaking Disney horse since Max!

Plus, Brave takes place in Scottland. Clydesdales are Scottish and Shires are English.

Just because that one shire happens to have the same markings as Angus, doesn't mean that Angus is a shire. Go look up Angus and you will see that he is a Clydesdale. Both Clydes and Shires come in the same patterns.

Word of God states quite specifically that Angus is a Shire horse. Just because he looks like a Clydesdale to you, viewer, doesn't mean that the creators made him a Clydesdale. Harris and Hubert are also English names. Yet I'm pretty sure all three of the triplets are Scottish.
And for the record, if I'd intended you to just look at the picture and not read the article, don't you think I would have simply linked you the picture?

If you go to the official Brave page on Disney.com, it states right there on his bio that Angus is a Clydesdale. Look it up.

Yes, but who wrote that? The creators of the movie did not necessarily write the bio for the website. I think Mark Andrews' word on the commentary and in the behind-the-scenes features holds a whole heckuvalot more credence than that of some underpaid lackey writing fillers for a promotional site. The director, writer and character designer intended Angus to be a Shire; ergo he is a Shire. Perhaps he has Clydesdale influence to give him the silky feathering on his fetlocks, but he was intended to be a Shire.

Even if that's true and he was intended to be a shire, he is not. In the movie, as state on the official character page, he is a Clydesdale.

Next you'll be saying my rattlesnake character is a norther Pacific rattler, when I clearly wrote him as a prairie rattler. Since apparently the viewer's opinion trumps the word of the one who created the character.
If the creators of Brave say Angus is a Shire, I'm going to take their word for it. You can point out that he bears a closer resemblance to a Clydesdale all you want, but you have no place calling his makers wrong in their intent. You are just a fan, and as far as Brave is concerned, a fan is all you'll ever be.
Trust me, I've had this conversation dozens of times with TLK fans who insist it's canon that Scar is Nuka's father. I always win by citing WoG. I know what I'm doing when I cite the final authority on a movie. Even Mythbusters couldn't win an argument against James Cameron, because his script called for Jack to die, and he had the final say in that.

haha, me too.. I have way too many toys as is.. I have 3 extra large storage boxes full of them.. and a plastic tub thing with them too.. I basically don't have a bedroom closet haha..
but yeah, I'm glad I got my angus plush.. he's so huggable.. I hope to find one of Khan someday..

most, if not all, of my horse plushies are Bryer(?). They look more like real horses. I'd get the second one. It's cuter and a lot less creepy looking. Lol
