Description For some reason I felt like I had to paint Glorfindel upside down with his homie Thorondor and just went with it. Better description to follow. I can't really think of anything. And yes, I kind of have a thing for painting feet.

Ok, so Glorfindel. He was this beautiful celebrity that everyone in Gondolin fangirled over. Then he died heroically slaying a Balrog during the Fall of Gondolin and everyone fangirled all over again. THEN he was REBORN with ANGELIC POWERS and thousands of years later saved Frodo from the NazgΓ»l and EVERYONE FANGIRLED AGAIN. I believe Tolkien originally wanted him to be part of the Fellowship, but replaced him with Legolas, a new face, instead. I think it's because Glorfindel was too OP at that point. But it's ok. We all still love our Golden Boy of Gondolin.

In this painting he's chilling with his friend Thorondor the Eagle. He is a fun-loving and joyful elf at heart.Β

He's so beautiful!! And I can totally seeing him chilling with the eagles and doing aerial stunts with them. Great job! He looked completely relaxed and confident he'll be caught.
Which actually is rather sad and ironic when you think of when he gets killed by the balrog - Thorondor is in future not going to be able to catch him but will bear his body out of a ravine.

Thanks!!! the allusion to the future fall to his death (and Thorondor's recovery of his body) was pretty intentional so I'm pleased that you thought of that! Just hope it's not too morbid. Still working on paintings that seem less rigidly composed and more spontaneous. Can't wait to see what you've been up to this weekend art-wise!

I don't think it's too morbid at all, but that the element of foreboding there adds depth to the painting. I love his hair and his clothes, by the way.Β Β

Amazing! And now that you say it, it didΒ seem like Glorfindel was going to be with Fellowship. Be rather interesting to imagine that he did join the Fellowship -especially when facing the balrog.Β

It would have been really interesting! But I think Glorfindel was just too powerful at that point... And I'm glad Legolas got a chance to shine instead.

Digital would have been my next suggestion (I checked this work before on the smartphone, that's why I didn't see the chosen caregories before)! Really nice!
