Description Autumn 756, North-East Blackwood.

This piece continues from The Truth

Lia couldn't believe what had happened. All this time, she and her mother had been running because of the older doe's stupid mistakes. A worse still, Lia's entire existence had been put into question now - how could she go back to Glenmore when they all knew who she was, but how could she contact the Blackwood herd without being talking to her real father first? She didn't even know his name!

But she had made her decision. Even as she ran back to the den she knew she couldn't stay with her mother for much longer. The need to see the world had been growing in her since she was a fawn, and this... this was the boost she needed to start her adventure. The first thing she would do was head as far away from Blackwood as she could, to clear her head. Her mother had talked about the island of Windborne far to the west, and she was determined to go there.

She skidded into the small clearing of trees in front of the den and snorted. Acka was perched on top of the den, and tilted his head at her, curious as to what took her so long to get back. Lia gestured to the magpie, just before her mother arrived in the clearing as well.

"Lia, stop!" Caysa cried, on the verge of panic as Acka landed on her daughter's back.

"No. I'm going." Lia said stubbornly over her shoulder, before walking out of the clearing back into the trees.

"But -- will you come back?" Caysa cried, jumping forwards then stopping.

"I'll come back... at somepoint." Lia muttered. "I need to figure some things out." She continued walking, then glanced back to see her mother watching her still.

"Acka!" Caysa called, and the magpie took off and soared back to the doe. Lia didn't realise he was gone until he landed back on her again, cawing softly. She glanced back to see he held something in his mouth - her mother's tail wraps. She smiled very slightly at the sentiment, then continued walking onwards.

Last bit of history for Lia and Caysa now! Next stuff will be what happens in the 'present' WI time.

I really like the perspective on this one, and the lighting is great with Lia coming forwards into the light and Caysa being left in darkness. Matches the story really well ^^
